Load development shooting

Just curious when yalla re doing load development how do y'all shoot ? Some guys say the shoot exactly how they would in the field ( ie prones bipod rear bag) something about harmonic nodes. The. On the other spectrum some guys are using lead sleds clamp rests ect. Personally I'm in the middle prefer to do probe but usually it off of a nice front bags and rear bag set at a natural POI.

I just shoot off the roof of the vehicle using a 4" bipod and rear bag. Same as 95% of my shots.

I shoot prone off a bipod to test a batch normally. However the last ladder test I did was off fresh cut bales of straw  that hadn’t been picked up . I was able to also use a bale as a back stop too . Nice and solid and a comfortable position.

I tested bales in the past. Some rounds will go through. Not much energy left mind, still wouldn't want to hide behind one though!

The best one for passing through was the slow and steady 30/30!

Don’t fanny about too much with load development, I check a few loads on the manufacture sites and basically go in at the top end… shoot two rounds into the deck not looking through scope, check for pressure!

stick a 2” druggy bag on target full of something warm

shoot 3 shots at it and if all’s well job done, no poi shift between using bipod for testing and shooting off quad stix

druggy bag Dave…. Fill with something warm, fold it tight and fix it to a board with a drawing pin, mint for zeroing the thermal and you can see your group with the heat signature on the wooden board!
