Attending them no later than next day,...also helps, as far as them getting nicked, & not just by 'two legged foxs' either,..(cause of reynard & brock, too) ,....& farmers & greenkeepers running over traps with machines, moving stock, etc,....all interfering with traps, the longer you cant get checking !,...also, say your in a garden situation,...& trap ( or traps ) are out for a mole or two,....& you get a  ' miss'  for whatever reason,.....so the mole potentially does more damage,...(more hills,up etc),..if you dont go next day, to address the situaton ?,...not ideal is it, for your clients ?,...same on the golf course,...& agricultural situations,...on drill, young grass, silage, etc ,...................................."only being allowed to use his traps",........according to him the half barrel design , coupled with increased spring strength, flatten the catching loop, moving the trigger towards the catching loops, etc,....which he introduced, helps ensure the most humane demise, of the mole in a catching device (eg trap),......& ive watched him explain in great detail, exactly the reasons, why !,........& it does seem plausable, what he reveals,......but im no expert on how a mole, expires in a trap, certainly,.........but, IM NOT opposed to anybody competently, using a genuine Putange or Talpex, for the job, personally,...........some other traps,.... without naming them, are highly suspect whether they are suitable , to ensure a swift end for old mole,..................................."putting heavy turf on barrel springs helps humane catches",........its not 'set in stone' how you set a trap,....& i dont use 'heavy turf', myself, to cover traps,......but i have sliced the grass top down thin, & replaced it as a lid, at the said ground level, (over a covering of soil),....to help disguise trap locations, in the odd situation, where it maynbe necessary (eg theft, interference),...& trap covering varies widely, from ive seen, half an inch of soil, to right up to ground level , & well above to form a molehill, above the said trap,...at that can be for a few reasons,.......Jeffs got his own reasons, i believe, for perhaps practising this, & its to do with conditions in the moles tunnel, below,....whatever influences from above can change things, etc & he wants the mole to trundle along , not noticing any changes to its underground environment etc, air pressure, water ingress, etc,........otherwise, he believes, this MAY be detrimental to a successful capture, at a given location.  Now the jurys out , on that one,...& i would suggest its up to the individual mole catcher, to make up his own mind, as regards his own experiences & methods, etc,..............................................

Also,....i stated PUBLICLY, as well (did i actually message you, regarding that ?,...its ok i will double check,...lol) i changed my mind, & conceded the Putange (genuine) seemed suitable for the job , when deployed correctly,.....it can catch 'foul' as well, just like the rest,.....& is a fiddly wee f****r, i find ,...& as a result only use it in specialised situations, where its desirable to have a trap set completely below ground,......& i should say them 'ultimate' stainless steel ones, i first heard about off my 'best mate' CLIVE,..on here !,......they are better than the standard ones, & stronger, in my opinion, so more durable, etc,.......(doesnt bother me if i get it wrong, originally...as my 'ego' isnt that big,....that i want to try & teach or instruct others, for coin, or whatever reasons either,....cause i still dont class myself as an 'expert' , after all these years,.....)

A couldnt give a f..k , ya cheeky b.....d !,.....YOU  asked ME to EXPLAIN, previous, & try & address ,  why this & that, regards what jeff wants etc,......so i had a good guess, & applied a bit of my own experience, & tried to give you some valid reasons/suggestions, etc

I like flatpack, I tried a tweak on a one a few months ago, tacking a stainless steel washer on, what a difference to catch rate, I am doing all my flatpacks now, can’t fail with them. Since I can’t use a welder no more I silver solder them on now.

Opening line,..of his "slogan" can happen,....I've witnessed  (heard) it at least twice, over the years....pulling a trap up (an old style scissor & a wee fenn ,a think), with mole still alive.....first time, has stayed with me,......all this time,...another occasion a mole was real vocal, when flipped out the ground alive, once,......rest of the "slogan" well,..is questionable, wouldn't argue over them parts, really

This isn’t about mole welfare and is all about Jeff ego

in his book jeff admits he still gets foul catches with the traps he promotes

what Jeff wants is to stop pest controllers being able to catch moles and only accredited mole catchers to do it

funnily enough mole catchers who have paid him to do a courses and been accredited by him and using traps that he promotes

 

if you think Jeff is on your side you’re even more stupid than I thought

The mole game is hard enough as it is and any further legislation change will make ot harder 

Jeff an ego maniac who doesn’t care about your or my opinions

he only cares about being the go to guy for mole catching which after reading his books and watching his videos he clearly isnt

you stormed off here and face book moaning the mole game was f****d previously and yet here you are singing the praises of the very same guy that will(and at some point he will get his way) that will make it even harder for you

i have nothing against checking my traps every day 

I do check my traps everyday as a full trap won’t catch any more and I can get an invoice in quicker 

but putting a law in place will make criminals of us if we cannot do it for. Some reason and there are plenty of times I haven’t been able to check daily when life gets in the way

If Jeff was concerned with mole welfare he wouldn’t impede the springs by placing turf on top of them

24 hour trap checking will do nothing for mole welfare

they are in that trap within four hours and if foul caught will die roughly within four hours rightly or wrongly

its a very dangerous road to go down 

and the implications for prosecutions are worrying

even when you do everything right there are foul catches as it’s nature and it doesn’t always do what you want

and Jeff admits he gets foul catches even with his 24 hour trap checking and guess what they’re dead in his traps 

you can sing Jeff a praises all you want but he is a f*cking idiot

the barrel trap you mention I said was in humane is

Its by definition a strangulation trap and inhumane

The law states you cannot use strangulation traps and twine isn’t powerful enough to do anything other than strangle

runs those traps by Jeff see what he says

if I didn’t know better I’d think you were gay for jeff and wanted him to stick his dibber in your tunnel

I genuinely applaud you for admitting you were wrong in the past and can’t wait for you to wake up and smell the coffee on this one
