pheasant question

just wanted to say thanks to the fooking pheasants that kept scareing the shit outa me.they wernt flying off till i almost stepped on them so thanks :wallbash::wallbash: ,and does anyone know what happens to the pheasants that wernt shot does the farms just leave them and hope they can breed ect (i would feel a bit of a plonka asking the farmer of my permission)

Yep, whatevers left after the season is left to breed as wild stock assuming nothing eats them! We used to thin out the cocks at the end of the season because if you have too many they stress the hens out fighting over them in the spring. Later in the year, if your incubating your own, a few birds are caught up and kept in a laying pen to provide eggs for net years stock. Hope that helped :thumbs:

I know what you mean mate, I have a lot of land on my permissions that allow for me to do a bit of rough shooting, just a couple of pheasants now and then for my table. Just before last Christmas I was walking along a very long field, my trusty old side by side under my arm, it was a very nice day and I was really enjoying the peace and solitude when a cock pheasant got up just a few feet in front of me and I'm :icon_redface: embarased to say it startled me and I was too late to take the shot :doh:

The next bugger that day was'nt so lucky though :thumbs:
