forest of dean redneck 11,525
Interesting I knew there was some penned up on a brook in Forest of Dean , just had a quick google and there was a roadkill beaver reported back in 2017 for Herefordshire .
Greyman 28,002
Most of the populations of beavers are escapees they seem to be doing better than the release programs
KimE 487
Its a nice hunting game we have 7 months of hunting season for them, mostly we hunt in april-may then its off season for other game. Then I was a kid in the 1980s they were released in the stream by our house 20y later they were allowed for hunting.

We’d have Brian anti May , Cwish Pac-Man and the beaver protection society on the case from day one …twenty years on we’d be falling down badger sets or drowning in flood water ..take your pick ! .. 1

I know they will decrease the water flow but only downstream from them and no one can dictate where they will live so somewhere is going to get the backlog of water and the farmers won’t be happy. trouble is the uk has changed since all these introduced species were roaming the uk it’s densely populated and a lot smaller than the USA . In my opinion they should stop building on common land etc and look at what knepp have done with their farm to boost wildlife.

KimE 487
The beaver can only make a dam in small gills so they flood some small areas upstream but prevent flooding in larger rivers. The most typical dam is 20m long making the water level 50cm higher. Edited September 10, 2021 by KimE

Go down to the river 1-2 hours before sunset there you have fresh cut trees.
