TOMY,HMR 0
Hello people. I have decided to now give my HMR a good spring clean and service, now that the rough weather has set in for a while. I just wanted to no what other peoples usual servicing andcleaning rituals where. Whats other peoples ways of cleanind the bore and other parts to maintain good accuracy and reliability? I usualy just use abore snake every 20 rounds and every 100 use a phosphor brush and jag. I have read that its a good idea to use a bore cleaning soulution to strip away the baked on coper fouling. Does this improve accuracy alot? All info welcome. Cheers Quote Link to post
Ratman2 2
I do about the same as you other than using a bore snake, don't like them. I always use bore cleaner, most makes do a good job. I always pass an oily mop through the bore after cleaning. The rest of the metal work gets a wipe over with an oily cloth, I use the same cloth on all of my guns. That's about it. Quote Link to post
dwighet 1
Mate i usually clean my 17 hmr after around 2-3 boxes of ammo(60rnds) 1. run an oily patch through the bore and let it soak for around 10 mins 2.copper brush 5-10 strokes then pass dry patches to remove powder residue untill you get a clean one passing through. 3. soak a patch with M-pro 7 copper remover(great stuff.made by Mc Millan Bros.Sniper rifles)and let it soak for 15-20 mins then pass dry patches through untill your patches pass through clean. Youll be amazed how much shite the m-pro 7 removes... You will here loads of different methods of bore cleaning. This one works for me.gets it spotless... Good luck and happy hunting..
