THE STIFFMEISTER 16,226
Cheers for that , it’s something I’m thinking of moving into and have a 6 week work package soon in summer with a massive firm. not sure what to expect as im quite hands on and don’t want to be the prick of a bloke that I’m not , if that makes sense. I’ve got loads and f construction experience for civils , drainage , founds , deconstruction, but it’s always been following CAD plans I’ve made , or at least method of works I’ve done . looking forward to it but but apprehensive about rubbing people the wrong way

They juggle as many jobs as they can to make the money. If it’s crap weather they will rarely come out and check things. Not sure what it’s like on the bigger sites. Lad I work for checks everything we do so there’s no come back. On the bigger sites the lads have to be quick to make money so the only thing that can give is standards. On the other hand, I have seen people who are getting paid way over the odds but they just don’t care about their quality of work. The quality of some of the new builds both design and construction are poor. Take into consideration that most are being built on land not that suitable for big estates! Strange you say that as up my way it’s completely different. My lad is a builder and the planners and architects have gone steel mad. They are going way overboard with what’s needed. I asked one of them if he had shares in the local steel yard! They are onto things like that. Not so much on finishing and standards though

Soak it all up the first week and suss out who you want to learn off or work with for the other 5. Plenty of lads I know have gone down that route.

mackem 27,586
Had an informal meeting about buying into a franchise yesterday, startup cost isn't so bad, it's 200k CAD but 25k a month after that for incidentals, support etc is a bit of a piss-take, just because it's a well known company.

Out of interest what price is a box in Canada these days? Back in 2008 a box of premo or high grade I could get for 5000 Canadian dollars... That was van couver... A lot more expensive these days? Far cheaper than 5 CAD, you can get quads for just over 3 in quantity.I spoke to a guy yesterday who had just got a licence for back pain to grow 100 plants indoors.

So what you talking now? When you were here it was illegal, prohibition drives up price, now its as legal as a loaf of bread,a micro-licence allows you to grow 600kg a year, price here has plummeted because of over production the same as in Cali or oregon, a box of perfectly manicured flowers, really nice, bought in multiples, will run you 34's,you can get it a good deal cheaper, but it's not the same quality.

Yes it was illegal then... It's a pity I'm banned from entering Canada indefinitely...sounds like there could be great money to be had.
