Out and about ,still looking at boats, just got back from Birmanigga..... money is not the problem, finding a suitable mooring to accommodate us for what we need is lol... waiting lists, and more rules than f***ing school lol,is slowly starting to boil my piss and put me off🙄...looking at a few different options... Could just buy a couple of holiday chalets somewhere nice with a lake etc,and make an income from them, still keep the house ,rent it out as it's mortgage free?Or f**k it,and move the family and buy somewhere nice in Spain/France and try and make a go of it? Decisions, decisions ,decisions....all I know is,I just want f***ing out of this area, soon as...finding,even when you got some coin behind you...your still f***ing trapped in all the bullshit👍

We are all just a number mate, that's not going to sway their mind, I'm going to ask nicely, if they refuse I'm going to be straight and tell them I'm going to look for something else. The railway relies on weekend and night time engineering works as that's the only time they can get access to the tracks, when the trains stop running. I'm a team leader here for the maintenance so I have a feeling that if they do say yes they might ask me to step down a grade and become a technician that just patrols the tracks during daytime.

Hope so Don,this buying a boat, and trying to live at a  slower pace lark....they don't make it easy for folks....if it was just me and Mrs we would be laughing,3 teenagers in tow and no one wants to touch us with a barge pole🤣 happy to take your money for a boat, but don't want families with young children on these marina's.....had some cheeky cnut questioning us,saying what if your daughter gets pregnant???wtf she's f***ing 13 yrs old🙈 I almost grabbed the cnut and sent him swimming...the bell end⛏️

Enough is enough, I'm having it out with the manager next week when I'm on days. I want permanent day shifts, if they can't offer me them I'm looking for something else. I've gone from doing one or two shifts per month to around 40 every 13 weeks, no good, pile! Lol

I worked 12 hour night shifts for years ( admittedly it was 4 on 4 off ) when I was gaffer at a tanker company and I loved it, it’s been about 14 years since I’ve done nights and I don’t think you could pay me enough now to do them again. If you’re good at what you do there will always be work for you, when I rapped in the mechanic work my phone never stopped with job offers back on the tools, it’s been over 5 years now and I still get a call now and then

i’d bit the bullet if they don’t give you what you want, there’s always work for grafters

Most lads love nights, everything is better on nights, less traffic, no gaffers about, job & knock, but my body just doesn't agree with it. I'd love nights if I could kip on them lol, and whoever said you don't need kip is a lying c**t. I don't sleep the best when I'm on days but nights just throws your whole body out of sync. I've been on the railway over 20 years, started at 18, it's all I really know, I had a year out and went scaffolding with a mate but that's it. I've always been a grafter mate, if anyone knows about working on the track they will know it can involve serious donkey work.

What actually keeps you there? Steady money? It's All you know?...I've had some tidy little numbers over the years, but soon as I start to get restless, someone fucks me off....them I'm f***ing gone,no amount of money will keep me there.....I left jobs on £350 plus a day..next day working for £150 lol....money isn't everything, when you suss that out,the world's your oyster mate...

You must be comfortable after 20 yrs of earning decent coin? House almost payed for? The only thing stopping you.....is YOU👍

Yeah, steady money and a mortgage to pay and a family to provide for. I actually took a pay cut to secure this job I took in the summer as I am guaranteed to never work away from home again. I wrongly assumed the amount of night shifts wouldn't effect me but they're no good.

No mate, far from comfortable, I spunked my life savings on a witch and so when I me our lass and was ready to settle I had feck all savings and had to get 95% mortgage at 30 odd year old, you live and you learn. Lol

Keep the house, always have something solid and stable, never burn all your bridges.Spain and France have tightened up on immigration from the UK after Brexit,it won't be easy, especially with school aged children. If it was me and I wanted to make good money and give the kids a great lifestyle,at this moment,I would head to Thailand.I know a number of people who have upped sticks and headed east in the last couple of years.

Did similar in my younger days, thinking with my dick...ended up leaving the Rat everything and walking away...Maybe I was lucky,I put a 15 k deposit down,of my own money on my first house at 23,3 months after meeting my current Mrs...cost us 75k,got my head down, and just plugged away..never wanted to upgrade to a bigger pad, always had the money to cover the bills and go and do what we wanted, eat where and what we wanted, holidays and all the toys I ever fancied, always been comfortable..while everyone else was getting it all on the drip....I'm not rich by any means, but what I do have is mine, and never had any help from parents etc....Im to proud to ask any cnut for anything tbh...I'd find another way.... sometimes not the legal route....but you got to take chances in life...if it pays off great....if not, then you deal with it👍
