notts 0
is there an easy way of getting your ferret out a bury? or is it a matter of just waiting? we had loads of hassle at the weekend trying to get our hob to come out, he would keep poking his head out of differant holes but would'nt leave them.....we tryed the rabbit guts tick and full rabbit but he would have a sniff and off he'd go again...any tips please?? richie 1
out of interest, when you were enticing the hob with the rabbit, were you just laying it in front of him with it just laying there or did you grab the bunny by the back legs & put it all the way in, shaking him around ? my ferrets wont be bothered by a dead rabbit laying on the floor or when their in a pile, but when i start shaking one around or start dragging it in front of them they go nuts & lock straight onto it. horse 0
same thing i have one that does the same thing, pecks his head out and then down he goes again. spent one hour in a small three holer, trying to catch him, then when you leave him he would come down the bank say about a foot, and as soon as you went to lift him he would bolt back down the hole puts a real dampener on things when your mad to get moveing on. will he ever change lads or is this his style of hunting??? now i know he is only 7 months but i have a jill from the same litter and she flies throw the borrows and the only time she is away for a while is when there is some thing at home, if not she is down the bank and straight over to me. both got the same chances. i tried the pipe thing to no avile he just does not want to be handled i think. so what do yous think lads thats two of us in the same boat here ??????????????????????? stubby 175
get yaself some ferret malt paste (most good petshops) stick a little on ya finger each day, they go nuts for it, and i mean nutts, maybe a little click of the tongue, just before offering it, he'll soon learn whats what, then next time he sticks his head outta a hole, click ya tongue and offer him some, he'll come running, mine only have to see the tube, they know what it is... but.. are you sure he aint coming out, cos he knows theres rabbits in there still Quote Link to post
horse 0
hi stubby i am pretty sure theres nothing home. i put the jill down as well to see if this would get him to follow her but he wont. every borrow he does the exact same thing, some times i think the jill is a bit to quick, i do borrows with the jill that you would think holds a fair few bunnies plenty of fresh digging going on and plenty of fresh shite, and nothing, but then there is times she would stay and we would get a few shots, they done nothing before i got them, would it be because there young and the penny has not dropped yet. i will give the malt paste a go and see how i get on, any way what do you think. horse Quote Link to post
