First roe buck

I’ve not had my 243 very long so after so practice and ammo testing I finally felt confident to try for a roe I’ve had a few foxes before this but this is the first buck I’ve ever shot one happy man

Have a good look at the springer Dave , I’d say it’s a GWP . Maybe you subconsciously prefer them ? Good grief, I sound like some sad troll . Apologies Dave , I don’t mean to nit pick Anyway congratulations on your first couple of bucks Mark

she’s a lovely gwp not mine it’s the lad that took me outs dog fallow is on my list

Here in Sweden we use GWP for as a bird pointing specialist and they must be deer clean.

Until recently my only experience of Gsp and GWP’s were out of control, wild , untrained specimens that turned up on shoot days in the beating line or owned by guns . They were poor advocates for their breed . Since then I’ve witnessed them in their proper environment, hunting, setting, flushing and retrieving on woodcock and pheasant . And they were a joy to watch and have changed my opinion of the breed. For that kind of shooting, they have no equal. 
       I also believe that they make excellent deer dogs here in the uk . But then most steady dogs with a nose will find a shot deer . A friend of mine uses a Border terrier that I bred for this purpose , and she has added many deer that would have otherwise been lost to the chiller .
