No mate thank f”ck she’s only four and a half month, it was a young pigeon her third one in the past few weeks.

Personally,...I like my young dogs to pick up birds, preferably edible varieties, and it creates a bit of interest for them..

I used to catch a fair few Partridges at night, not loads, but enough for a Jalfrezi..

Back in the day, these images caused a wee bit of controversy, and the Sporting magazines became a wee bit wary of using my articles..

They maintained that it would upset their Shooting readership..

I suppose they had a point.. 

Nevertheless,...I still like a canny jukel that will fetch me a dinner,..fur or  feather...

any hunting man worth his salt should be able to take partridge with a dragnet at night was often told that years ago. popular around here with older generations, never got round to having a go through. what about you, ever tried it?

Same with me, this youngster started out on winged pigeons and has now started on partridge.

My old dog had a real knack for these pretty little birds and hanging off my bushers shoulder as they were lifted, then sprinting and a jump, made them look easy. I'm hoping Mabel follows in his footsteps.

No Fred, I've never been out at night with a Drag Net...

I've heard from a few Midland lads that you can really bag up, if you know the game...

Netted a lot of rabbits and Hares, but I've never been schooled, to use a Drag Net...

Never will learn now....

Excuse my lack of knowledge and jumping on this thread but how does a lurcher catch woodpigeons, ducks etc? I really like the idea of my boy being able todo that when he's ready. Is it something they either already have in em or can it be taught if so how?

Either they learn it or watch another dog doing it 

handy if they do or retrieve wounded feather .
