Bush Rummager 4,517
Up there soon... hindered with the outlaws tagging on. They've never been up there.. or to Scotland at all.. i'm feeling a bit of pressure to show them some West coast highlights.. they're mid 70's bless em.. so i know for a fact they'll never come back. I've got a day on Skye planned.. we had a week there a few years back. So.. I'm looking for recommendations..pubs.. beaches.. view points.. good roads to drive... anything really along the wast coast. Cheers in advance folks... First week at the top blob... second week at the other.. near Oban..

First week at the top blob... second week at the other.. near Oban.. depends on how far you want to drive each day.....a nice drive from where you are the first week would be up through Torridon ...kinlockewe ...up the side of loch maree to Gairloch ....then at poolewe you could drive up lochewe to firemoore sands beach which is stunning and if you have kids they will love that beach as will you....if the tide is out there is a natural pool about 2 feet deep that quite large but great for the kids to play in ...also at poolewe if your in laws or yourself are in to gardening there is Inverewe gardens to have look round ...its national trust so if your a member its free... theres a nice little eatery at Gairloch called the steading little bistro type place ...if its nice weather its nice sat outside ....or of course have a picnic at firemore sands 2

thefensarefarbutistillgo 2,482
Highly recommend glenuig beach, i use to go there as a kid, a small secluded beach with crystal clear water and white sand, it’s like being abroad on a hot day, bloody lovely
TOMO 26,067
two other beaches i have thought of that are stunning ...but further up....Achmelvich and Clachtoll probebly a 3 hour drive from where you are staying....but worth it if its nice weather and you can be arsed.....you could stop off at Ullapool and have a look round...its a big town for up there so if your in a self catering cottage or caravan you could kill 2 birds with one stone and get some shopping in at the supermarket...

Yes, i don't mind driving at all.. when we're away it's all about getting out and about and seeing places. Just whacked it in Google maps and it's 1hr and half from the cottage to Gaitloch via Torridon.. so well within scope for a day out and long as i get the mrs and daughters up for and earlyish start!! Easier said than done that is!! Plenty more for me to get my teeth into there and a few day's planned out. We actually wanted to stay further up.. somewhere near Ullapool but when we booked in January most of the size cottages we were after were already booked. The first week up there we're staying along Lochcarron.. Sorry late replying folks.. been a long day! Cheers again..
robbo 828
I stayed at Arisaig when we went up there. Some lovely beaches in that area as well. Had them to ourselves most of the time. We walked it up Ben Nevis. If you’re feeling energetic. Some fantastic views on the way up.
