jultaylor1972 2
Over the last few weeks one of my dogs – who normally never urinates in the house has started urinating on the floor every morning . When I get up there is always a puddle of urine for me to clean up. She gets loads of exercise, her feeding time is regular and there has been no change in her routine. I’ve tried everything I know to cure this problem to no avail. I’m now on to my 6th rug and its costing me a small fortune to replace them. She’s an excellent marking dog and she is very intelligent and always picks things up quickly so I just don’t understand why she’s doing this. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance. littlefish 586
Is it a speyed female? I heard recently that this can be a problem due to ? lack of oesrogen in the dogs tissues? I have a speyed female myself who used to pull the bedding out of her plastic bed, pee on it and then lie in it, as though she liked being covered in her own smell? By the way, she doesn't do this anymore - it stopped once i took the bedding away but just left the plastic bed to lie on. She seemed happy enough with this arrangement. Maybe you should stop wasting money on new rugs?
martin 332
It's possible that it is a urinary infection,so you might want to pop her into the vets.Does she do it at any other times or is it just mornings?

Just in the mornings. It may well be a urine infection Its worth a trip to the vets I imagine just to be on the safe side Thanks for that advice. I'll get a sample off her tomorrow and get it to the vets.

Maybe you should stop wasting money on new rugs? Yes, she is speyed - I'll ask the vet what he thinks as I suppose it could be that? As for getting new rugs, Im in agreement with you on that one but the boss says new rug every time
Guest MOLLY
Khan started doing that once Jules, and as you can imagine it's a river when he goes I stopped it by preventing him from going in the room he was doing it in overnight (always did it in the mornings like yours) Good luck. Good point: mine hate going out when it's pissing down with rain or it has been raining a lot and the yard is awash. I have to put them out the front on the grass: and I always make sure I actually SEE them pee before they come back in. But get her to the vet anyway if this is not the problem. Bladder stones, urinary infection both possible.

jultaylor1972 2
Finally got a sample off her today! Went to the vets who tested it and said she has cystitis! Poor soul - Ive been yelling at her and its no wonder she didnt want to go. I took my Patterdale to just to be on the safe side and she has a urine infection So they're both on antibiotics for 5 days. £36 altogether which I think is quite reasonable. Thanks to all for the sound advice So, this time next week it should all be back to normal here.

jultaylor1972 2
I've been giving her cranberry juice which is equally as good for cystitis, but I'll try giving her some of that too. Thanks again to everyone.
