borderboy 80
I'm looking for cheap car insuarance... I'm nearly 17 and about to start learning to drive, I have been offered an N reg 1.3 Fiesta, for free... So I have been looking for insuarance and its ridiculous... 3rd party fire & theft with my dad as a named driver... £1001.95 is the cheapest i can find...! I understand its gonna be a bit pricey, with me ticking all the wrong boxes... but does anyone know if theres a company worth trying? Thanks BB

danielt 1
I was under my mothers name when i started, insurance is cheaper for women. I had a 1.0ltr VW POLO and insurance was roughly £770 for my mother and me all in. But insurance companies have been b*****ds lately and say that if you are the main driver but put your parents name down as the main driver this can void the insurance, as its so called 'fronting' watch out for that. I'm with directline and found that cheapest for me, currently driving a 1.9TD estate car and its £700 odd for a yr for me alone. I've beeen driving for just over 3yrs now. I got a bit of discount as i've been with directline since i passed.

goshawking719 492
If your only learning id go with click the pepper car insurance (type it in to google) they will only cover you up untill you pass your test but it means you can go out and practice in your own car etc before. its around £55 per month or £13 for 7 days cover. hth
