stubby 175
nice looking box, but I'd suggest a wider strap and put more than one fixing/screw in the ends at the box, I did the same with mine, and once it has ferts in it, with only one screw each side, it had the tendancey to rotate, or as it also happened to me, one side screw fell out, not a good thing with 3 ferts in the box and trying to carry nets/spade etc the wider strap, because its suprising how heavy that gets once your in the field also dont forget to drill air holes in it, dead ferts dont catch rabbits Quote Link to post
allgame 0
i use an old tackle box with a handle i prefer to carry mine its always up and down all the time beside the most i usally have to walk is a km between holes its plastic and water proof and holds 3 ferrets easy wood gets to heavy if i ever make anothe one id make it out of plastic Quote Link to post

allgame 0
the green box i what i use for winter and is preetty basic the only problem with it is that all my ferrets jump out at one other wise it's perfectfor winter i just chuck a old shirt in there and they're usally quite content i use this next one for summer its good because it lets the ferrets breath and get sepperated if its to bright i can cover the front aswell its abit tricky to get them in but if you face it to the hole it makes it abit easyier i have one of the normal boxes aswell but i dont carry it around i only use it to transport my ferrets usally on long trips its got premenate water in there aswell as iv cut the front bottom part out so when the ferrets shit or piss it gose striat out on to the ground or the back of the ute so then the ferrets dont have to live in there own shit and it makes it easyier for me to clean Quote Link to post
stubby 175
no disrespect meant, but the last photo, and the sentance that goe's with it, your talking like they live in it!!!!! I know some people are working on a budget, but surely you could construct a ferret box, rather that use some of them, one's a bird carrier by the look of it, mine are carried in a normal bow back ferret box, if we go ferreting they are in there from 6am, till 7am then in and out while ferreting, then another couple hours on the homeward trip, ok, they may $hit in the corner(very rare) but I certainly aint gonna plumb a toilet in there Quote Link to post
allgame 0
of coarse they live in it while i go away, in not ganna put them in my swag with me am i, also when you go away for a week theres not exactly ample space for a proper ferret cage on the back of the ute is there and yes that is a old bird cage and its the best ferret carrier iv seen mate what you've got to understand is that the whole of england is the size of victoria which is australias smallest state (other then act and tassie which dont count ) when australians go away its not a two hour drive but incredibly lucky if it is its more like 6 or 7 hrs for a good hunting trip which usally last for a few days at the least and 5think about how much space one or two ferrets relly need its not much especially while there hunting cause thats all the exersize ferrets need when they go in there box there job is to eat sleep shit and drink and they have ample room for all Quote Link to post
stubby 175
better explained mate, but would still have to disagree with you on the fert box, I use a trailer on big fert/rabbiting jobs, that need be to out all day, not wanting to leave my ferts cramped up in a carry box all day, Ive constructed a removable ferret hutch in the trailer, around 24"x24"x48" which means they have room to sleep/stretch/play/eat and $hit leaving them in a box that size, says to me no respect for the ferret, maybe you'll say us brits are to soft and they are only ferrets well each to his own I suppose Quote Link to post
