Wild Camping, Hiking, Back pack, Tent talk, Mini camper etc.......

Recommended Posts

I had another few days on Exmoor last week, on a site but very reasonable and at the time of year I appreciate toilets and hot showers.

Doone valley campsite, quiet and loads of room. Some good rides on the ebike. Loads of pheasants, one of which ended up donating breasts for a stir fry. First wild mushrooms of the year too. Tentbox was great, I used the awning bit that fits over the back of the car too so I had cover to cook and keep the ebike. Jackery performed well, kept the bike, phone and vapes charged for me and charged a phone and powerbank for a first time hiker who forgot his little solar panel. Hopefully another trip in October after a 4 day fishing trip, got a cheap deal on a static van near Weymouth.

Sounds great that pal.. you've got a good set-up there. Those tent box's seen to becoming more popular as time goes on. See one this morning in a pub car park!

Managed to get out last night for camp by myself. Up on Derwent edge.. 3 mile walk I'm. Found a nice little pitch tucked away by some rocks to keep the very strong north easterly off me! They'd forecast full sun but didn't i much of it!!20240920_165120.jpg.699c652fb16caa1fc4ee59e76891bffa.jpg

Really enjoy reading and seeing the pics you post on this thread mate. I keep saying to myself i am going to have a bash at this wild camping on my own as it's got to be a huge benefit to one's own mental health.

Thanks mate, I really appreciate that. The pics I take only go to a few mates and then on here so it's good to know the effort is worth while. If you fancy getting out you really should do it whilst you can. Maybe look into getting some gear together here and there over the winter, spread it out to take the sting out of it and you could be ready to go next spring. Definitely a great thing for mental health.. gives you a nice little reset I think and we all spend way too many hours, days and nights sat in our houses watching crap on the magic box that we will have forgotten all about by tomorrow. Have a night out in nature under the stars and you'll remember it forever mate!

Hi guys , bit of a long shot , but I’m due to imminently move to the plains of my people and have heard rumours of a firemonger of weapons ??
He is said to be a purveyor of the uks finest steel tomohawks and one of the last true dwarf weapon masters
if anyone can point me in the right direction , I’d be greatly pleased

I want to purchase a pair of boots for the colder weather, I do a lot of walking, and some trekking about the hillsides and trails. I do not want "winter boots" but rather boots that would be suitable for a cold day, but would work with layers of socks rather than thick heavy boots. Several people have told me Meindl is an excellent brand, and that is great, but what kind ? Hiking ? Walking ? Do they make them that they would serve the purpose mentioned above ? Any specifics to look for in a boot for this purpose ?
      Thank you in advance,
      Lynn

Sorry gentlemen to bother you, but I have come to my wits end. My neighbour across the way lets her dog roam as it please when it comes to shitting and urination, she is too lazy to actually take the dog out herself. He seems to have taken to my property and a certain area just under my bedroom window. I do not want to hurt the dog for the sake of her ignorance, but I do very much need to stop him from doing it any longer. The grass and  the shrubs are dying and turning brown and the flowers are just rank with smell that floats up through my bedroom window.
He is a VERY OVERWEIGHT beagle and leaves behind some damn good deposits.
I am wondering short of doing something stupid, what can I do to deter the dog from that area or any patches of garden I have? I plan to go to the council about the problem, and lay some of it on the town manager who is an acquaintance of mine, but in the meantime, any tricks out there to make my flowers and bushes unsavoury.
      Thank you in advance,
      Lynn
