Not sure yet mate, the Mrs & sister are on about tagging along so it won't be too treacherous I should imagine. Lol

Ah.. yes mate, keep the females happy eh! I'd like to tackle the Crib Goch route, it's an exposed ridge. One slip on there and you're a gonner! I don't like admitting it.. but I'm pretty sure my arse would fall out so far across the ridge and I'd probably end up crag fast and have to face the humiliation of the Mountain rescue coming up to save me! Lol.. f**k that!! I've got my limits and I know them!! Lol..

Spot on advice 👌

I've done it a few times . You need a decent level of fitness , but it's a nice walk.

I was thinking the same about the level of fitness as no doubt it's a different ball game than walking miles on flat ground or concrete floors in a working day.

Walking up and down hill is a completely different ball game .

When I first started to train for the three peaks challenge , I could do 15 miles on the flat , with very little trouble , but when I tried going uphill , I was good for about 200 yards 😄.

As long as you can walk well enough on the flat , just a bit of uphill walking/training will soon see you fit enough to walk Ben nevis.

Try walking up and down the stairs in your house for 20 minutes every other day. You'll soon build your leg muscles up.

I know I do over 30 thousand steps a day with work and a walk out every morning. Looks like the I might have to start walking up and down Dinnington pit tip on a weekend. 😆

I used to walk up the wrekin in Telford four or five nights per week , and each weekend I'd walk , scaffel Pyke, snowdon , or Ben nevis .  I did that on top of walking around 15 miles a day at work( im a binman).

I decided one day to try carrying a bit of weight in a rucksack , in preparation for the three peaks challenge.  I put either a 5kg or 10kg in my rucksack.  I could hardly notice it to begin with , but by the time I'd walked to the top of the wrekin , it felt like a was carrying a feckin donkey 😄.

That’s a great route up. Only worth doing if it’s clear visibility  as you want to see the view. Top tips is leave really early (probably before first light). There is then less risk of getting stuck behind people. If you are definitely not sure then chip in and get a guide. Once you are on you are fairly committed. It’s easier to crack on than back track through the crowds. I tend to stay away from Snowdon, or should I say Yr Wyddfa when the crowds are there.

Sound advice that mate.. but I doubt I'll ever do it! Striding edge on my own was bad enough and Crib Goch is definitely a league above that! I am one for going early mind. I did the Whatkin path as a day tip. Up at 2:00 am.. picked my work mate up and driving for 2:30.. parked up at the beginning of the Whatkin path at 6:00 am as it was just getting light. Up down and back at home 155 miles away by 5:30 teatime. Job done. I was a bit knackered mind!! Lol..

Half way up..

5 th march '22 it was. We were some of the first to the top that morning but the numbers soon started building as we had a sandwich and a swag from the the flask. No views whatsoever!! Lol..

Crib Goch looks daunting I’ve watched a few YouTube videos most difficult route I believe.

All these well known peaks seem inundated especially weekends.

Yes.. I'm not bothered about tacking that at all mate to be honest! Being on an exposed ridge like that is not great for my head! Lol.. Yes, the instagrammers, facebookers and self promotors are out in force big time now mate.

There’s much better places to go up there in my opinion. I grew up in the area so I was lucky enough to call it my back garden I suppose.

Might sound a daft question but any of you lads who have done these trails use the hiking sticks i seem to see and are they of any benefit to walking steep inclines.

I've never used them but I imagine they take off a great deal of hammer on your knees & ankles when walking up and down the elevations.

Hi guys , bit of a long shot , but I’m due to imminently move to the plains of my people and have heard rumours of a firemonger of weapons ??
He is said to be a purveyor of the uks finest steel tomohawks and one of the last true dwarf weapon masters
if anyone can point me in the right direction , I’d be greatly pleased

I want to purchase a pair of boots for the colder weather, I do a lot of walking, and some trekking about the hillsides and trails. I do not want "winter boots" but rather boots that would be suitable for a cold day, but would work with layers of socks rather than thick heavy boots. Several people have told me Meindl is an excellent brand, and that is great, but what kind ? Hiking ? Walking ? Do they make them that they would serve the purpose mentioned above ? Any specifics to look for in a boot for this purpose ?
      Thank you in advance,
      Lynn

Sorry gentlemen to bother you, but I have come to my wits end. My neighbour across the way lets her dog roam as it please when it comes to shitting and urination, she is too lazy to actually take the dog out herself. He seems to have taken to my property and a certain area just under my bedroom window. I do not want to hurt the dog for the sake of her ignorance, but I do very much need to stop him from doing it any longer. The grass and  the shrubs are dying and turning brown and the flowers are just rank with smell that floats up through my bedroom window.
He is a VERY OVERWEIGHT beagle and leaves behind some damn good deposits.
I am wondering short of doing something stupid, what can I do to deter the dog from that area or any patches of garden I have? I plan to go to the council about the problem, and lay some of it on the town manager who is an acquaintance of mine, but in the meantime, any tricks out there to make my flowers and bushes unsavoury.
      Thank you in advance,
      Lynn
