Wild Camping, Hiking, Back pack, Tent talk, Mini camper etc.......

Recommended Posts

I wasn't going to stick anything up on this till I got it finished, but with all the fires over here they are stopping atv use in the forests so doesn't look like I will get it done before hunting season. Fancied having a bash at making a cabin for a while so did a bit of reading and watched a few vids over winter, and made a start this spring with my youngest. Had to take a break for bear season, have about 8 or 9 days into it so far, and about $150 in 10" spikes and screws. Walls are finished but thats as far as we got.

I'm on the 3rd year with my Tentbox, nearly 100 nights away in that time and loved every one. I've done a few overnights without power, just relying on the 12v fridge running off the car. Longer stays need 240v but some places are now up to £10 per night for a mains hook up, bloody crazy.

So as I've retired I treated myself to a Jackery 500 explorer and 100watt solar panel. Really pleased, first trip out last week it kept the fridge running on eco and also managed to top up my ebike battery, phone and vape charging etc. Charges quick on 12v car socket. £469 on a Prime special offer.

Well I managed to get on Friday with my youngest daughter for her first camp out. She's 15 and was a but apprehensive about it all but also a but giddy at the same time. Only a mile and a half walk in but really steep at the beginning. I didn't want to overface her with a hard walk on a hot day especially with having the pack on for the first time but she's a strong kid to be fair and didn't even break sweat really lol. I was blowing straight away as per usual!

It couldn't have gone any better. Great weather. No wind and we watched a really nice sunset. Cooked burgers and shared a big bag of fudge. Life's all about experiences and I said to her this camp is going to scratch an itch you didn't know you had. I'm pleased she's got one under the belt at 15 and not waited until 46 like me last year! She fair enjoyed it. Nice quality time together just the two of us and she's already asking where are we going next so I'll class that as a result!!

Hi guys , bit of a long shot , but I’m due to imminently move to the plains of my people and have heard rumours of a firemonger of weapons ??
He is said to be a purveyor of the uks finest steel tomohawks and one of the last true dwarf weapon masters
if anyone can point me in the right direction , I’d be greatly pleased

I want to purchase a pair of boots for the colder weather, I do a lot of walking, and some trekking about the hillsides and trails. I do not want "winter boots" but rather boots that would be suitable for a cold day, but would work with layers of socks rather than thick heavy boots. Several people have told me Meindl is an excellent brand, and that is great, but what kind ? Hiking ? Walking ? Do they make them that they would serve the purpose mentioned above ? Any specifics to look for in a boot for this purpose ?
      Thank you in advance,
      Lynn

Sorry gentlemen to bother you, but I have come to my wits end. My neighbour across the way lets her dog roam as it please when it comes to shitting and urination, she is too lazy to actually take the dog out herself. He seems to have taken to my property and a certain area just under my bedroom window. I do not want to hurt the dog for the sake of her ignorance, but I do very much need to stop him from doing it any longer. The grass and  the shrubs are dying and turning brown and the flowers are just rank with smell that floats up through my bedroom window.
He is a VERY OVERWEIGHT beagle and leaves behind some damn good deposits.
I am wondering short of doing something stupid, what can I do to deter the dog from that area or any patches of garden I have? I plan to go to the council about the problem, and lay some of it on the town manager who is an acquaintance of mine, but in the meantime, any tricks out there to make my flowers and bushes unsavoury.
      Thank you in advance,
      Lynn
