Lol,Ive got eyes like a shithouse rat🤣Not been that way for a few yrs myself, used to take the quads/4x4's up there regularly at one time.....some cracking old hunting related graves in the church yard👍Photo0354.jpg.d8bfb994533d2ad3e20d884027d2abde.jpgPhoto0361.jpg.04d4ed12b4fd2e5037560cc7a788154b.jpgPhoto0355.jpg.e3f8a8b3d3ac6b8406692025343786f0.jpg

Good eyes indeed mate haha. Beautiful area isn't it. Ive been a fair few times in the 4x4's with the boys and many a time on the bikes but that was the first time with the misses and my boy. Have you ever been into the moel prysgau bothy? ( I think that's how it's spelt) I'll dig some photos out. The hilux is a bit fat and low to be doing strata but couldn't help myself on the way back down 😂 what's the worst that could happen? We had food and water.

Is that the graveyard on the banking to the right hand side of the road on the way up? Never ventured into there to be honest. I'll have to have a nose next time I'm up there mate 👍

just been to Snow & Rock, starting to get kit for my TMB trek, found a shop in Chamonix for tent, sleeping bag rental so just flying to Geneva with hand carry.Tried the boots on the rock-slope instore, good grip on irregular rocks, the first Meindl review mentions the Mont Blanc trek so getting the Meindl, the in store rock-slope isn’t like a real deal alpine rock slope but the boots were a good fit and have great soles so they should be fine.

Those boots look the business Mac! I'd definitely be wearing those around the house to break them in! Lol.. Looking forward to seeing your pics from this trip so keep us posted and let us know how you get on.  Great idea on bag and tent rental too.. saves you being lumbered with gear you might not use again after. When do you start mate?

Doing it in august mate, flights booked to Canada for September so august is TMB trek, the boots fit and lace like a glove.I rented kit in Kathmandu the last time I was in Nepal so yes,it makes sense to rent in Chamonix the beginning and end of the Mont Blanc loop, just need to buy a sleeping bag liner and good to go.

I'm sure those boots will serve you well mate! Not going to deny it.. I'm well envious of what you're doing! I'm getting semi on over going to the Lakes for a two night stop out!! Time constraints at the moment but I know I'll be free of them in the not to distant future!

Are you using the Hiiker app for your nav as go around Mac?? Looks like there's plenty of accommodation options along the northern edge of the route but a bit sparse along the bottom. Have you got a rough plan mate or just winging and see how get along as regards camping and accommodation?

Done the lakes loads as a kid,it was ok.Going to just camp totally, don’t need accommodation when it’s on my back, plus there’s loads of places to just pitch a tent where there’s no-one,did loads of this type of thing in the past, even camped out in remote china and pakistan.I was on the trek twice last year both times when I had to visit Geneva here’s one of the villages the trail goes through, three countries in 10 days is average.

Looks grand!! Yes.. I'd do the same and just camp it all, part of the trip I guess staying out and away from civilisation!

I've never had the need for anything with that much capacity mate. I just use a small Anker one. Gives me about 4 phone chargers. I'm pretty sure it's actually just 4 AA's encased together. I've often wondered if the power banks with the inbuilt solar panel are worth it or are they just a bit of a gimmick! Obviously they're weather dependent. Probably next to useless in the UK then! Let us know what you go for..

Any of you wildcampers got hexamine stoves? The fuel for them has been made illegal. max 2 years clink if you get caught using it.

I noticed that on a thumbnail for a YouTube vid but couldn't be arsed to watched...

What exactly is it...and why is it illegal

Solid fuel that burns a bit like firelighters. Not sure why it's been banned but possibly a connection with explosives. You now need a licence to use it.

No mate, have a tiny gillnet which is perfect size for streams and trout, folds down to nothing.

Went to Shackletons earlier the girl was showing me a totally waterproof bag down to 30 metres,I did tell her I was going up mountains not down in the depth.

They also have a paramotor in built by Gilo Cardozo the guy who designed and built the machine bear Grylls used to fly higher than Everest.

Hi guys , bit of a long shot , but I’m due to imminently move to the plains of my people and have heard rumours of a firemonger of weapons ??
He is said to be a purveyor of the uks finest steel tomohawks and one of the last true dwarf weapon masters
if anyone can point me in the right direction , I’d be greatly pleased

I want to purchase a pair of boots for the colder weather, I do a lot of walking, and some trekking about the hillsides and trails. I do not want "winter boots" but rather boots that would be suitable for a cold day, but would work with layers of socks rather than thick heavy boots. Several people have told me Meindl is an excellent brand, and that is great, but what kind ? Hiking ? Walking ? Do they make them that they would serve the purpose mentioned above ? Any specifics to look for in a boot for this purpose ?
      Thank you in advance,
      Lynn

Sorry gentlemen to bother you, but I have come to my wits end. My neighbour across the way lets her dog roam as it please when it comes to shitting and urination, she is too lazy to actually take the dog out herself. He seems to have taken to my property and a certain area just under my bedroom window. I do not want to hurt the dog for the sake of her ignorance, but I do very much need to stop him from doing it any longer. The grass and  the shrubs are dying and turning brown and the flowers are just rank with smell that floats up through my bedroom window.
He is a VERY OVERWEIGHT beagle and leaves behind some damn good deposits.
I am wondering short of doing something stupid, what can I do to deter the dog from that area or any patches of garden I have? I plan to go to the council about the problem, and lay some of it on the town manager who is an acquaintance of mine, but in the meantime, any tricks out there to make my flowers and bushes unsavoury.
      Thank you in advance,
      Lynn
