Just back from a trip up North West Scotland. Mainly spent in the sea kayaks exploring various areas. Wild camping on headlands along the way. Very lucky with the weather and a great place for adventures.

Just used this gas can refill adapter for the first time. Tenner off Amazon. Some cheaper and some more expensive.. so I went down the middle! Lol. Refill a canister from part used one's. I always like taking a full one with me.. peace of mind you know you're not going to run out and saves not having several canisters kicking about with bit's of gas in that are never going to get used.

The advice is to chill the canister you are filling up for 20 minutes in the fridge and warm up the donor can. I left in outside in the sun for a bit.

Screw them together with the donor can on the top.

These weigh 200g full. So weigh the receiver can as you go along to make sure you don't over fill it. Apparently there is 20% expansion room in there. Worked fine for me.. just thought it was worth a mention incase it's any use to someone.

Interesting bit of kit , saves wasting gas as you say ?

Absolutely mate! You can buy bigger cannisters that are cheaper in comparison to the small packable one and use them to top up and refill the small one's to take on a camp. All hepls I suppose!!?

Mr Rummager have you considered alcohol stoves ? The older I get and the more fecked my knees are am constantly lightening my kit and pack weight. At the moment am using an x boil, but I also have a eBay knock off that cost me about £11 to build. I have more than halfed the weight of my jetboil and it includes fuel. Slower to cook on but am in no rush just chilling and taking in the views so don't mind. Am just up and off out to work. But when I get home later will take some pics of the set ups and what it is on scales. I find myself more and more looking at ultralight options these days. I've just imported a new tent from states a Durston x mid pro 1 , bags of room in it and only 880grams on my scale. Half the weight of my Hilleberg Atko. The older I get,  lugging a huge pack and weight is getting less enjoyable lol.

Absolutely mate! I was actually looking at them over the weekend.. partly just out of interest but I can definitely see me going down the weight saving route in the near future. Like you say.. very cheap too! Be interesting to see the pics and weight of your stove mate thanks and also let us know what what you think to your new tent.. sounds the business that does! I wish I'd weighed my pack on my first few camps I really do. Got to start somewhere abd learn as you go along I suppose. I'm on family holls soon for 2 weeks but penciled a Kinder camp in for the end of July and the hopefully a 2 nighter in the Lakes after that in August. That's the plan anyway! Lol. Off to work now.. roll on 1:00!!

And my knock off version of xboil is this cheap wind guard off fleabay for £5.99 plus a cheap alcohol stove about a fiver from speedster stoves and 2 mini titanium tent stakes for pot stands. I will say I think the xboil is slightly better in the wind. But this for £12 and half the weight of my jetboil ain't too bad

Hi guys , bit of a long shot , but I’m due to imminently move to the plains of my people and have heard rumours of a firemonger of weapons ??
He is said to be a purveyor of the uks finest steel tomohawks and one of the last true dwarf weapon masters
if anyone can point me in the right direction , I’d be greatly pleased

I want to purchase a pair of boots for the colder weather, I do a lot of walking, and some trekking about the hillsides and trails. I do not want "winter boots" but rather boots that would be suitable for a cold day, but would work with layers of socks rather than thick heavy boots. Several people have told me Meindl is an excellent brand, and that is great, but what kind ? Hiking ? Walking ? Do they make them that they would serve the purpose mentioned above ? Any specifics to look for in a boot for this purpose ?
      Thank you in advance,
      Lynn

Sorry gentlemen to bother you, but I have come to my wits end. My neighbour across the way lets her dog roam as it please when it comes to shitting and urination, she is too lazy to actually take the dog out herself. He seems to have taken to my property and a certain area just under my bedroom window. I do not want to hurt the dog for the sake of her ignorance, but I do very much need to stop him from doing it any longer. The grass and  the shrubs are dying and turning brown and the flowers are just rank with smell that floats up through my bedroom window.
He is a VERY OVERWEIGHT beagle and leaves behind some damn good deposits.
I am wondering short of doing something stupid, what can I do to deter the dog from that area or any patches of garden I have? I plan to go to the council about the problem, and lay some of it on the town manager who is an acquaintance of mine, but in the meantime, any tricks out there to make my flowers and bushes unsavoury.
      Thank you in advance,
      Lynn
