COMPO 54
Shredded paper in the bed box, sawdust in the shit corner to soak up the piss! My ferrets drink out of both a bowl and a water bottle, has anyone else noticed when given the option they prefer water in a bowl to from a bottle! i use a big earthenware dog bowl for water (too heavy to be knocked over) and they prefer that to the water bottle, however after a day the bowl is usually full of crap and is half empty, then they may drink from the bottle until i change the bowl! leegreen 2,153
water bottles on the outside of the cage, never had a problem. I'm sure if they were given the choice, but I don't give them a choice. Hay or barley straw in the bed, wood chip in runs. Hay about £1.50 a bale, wood chips £5 a bale, lasts ages yc. Hob&Jill 258
I use different stuff, depending on what I can get. Straw, Shreaded paper, Old fleeces etc Quote Link to post
SkeetChamp 0
i mainly use shavings as it is easier to clean up and keeps them cleaner Quote Link to post

earth&hounds 94
what does everyone prefer to bed their ferrets on? ive used shavings and straw in the past but find that the shavings get wet and soggy quick. ferrets tend to drink their fill then play in the rest of their water. the last few times ive used hemp bedding that i bed the horses on and they seem to stay drier a lot longer and smell fresher. ive also used it in the chicken shed and it works well for them too. i pay about the same as i paid for shavings but it lasts a lot lot longer. any other ideas or any reasons why hemp might not be a good idea?
