There’s plenty of football out there needs supported, real football with real lads rushing home after a 10 hour shift to get paid £100 a week to play in the pissing of rain and loving it. Some people love football and some people love entertainment, it’s no crime to love entertainment but don’t crack on like that’s the be all and end all of football because it isn’t. They ain’t kneeling down at non league or Sunday football or kids games or League of Ireland……”my adversaries” ain’t got hold of that. Alright, it’s the highest profile, highest revenue bit but still tiny by proportion to the wider game. Its not dividing most of the football world, not at all. I was at a game tonight with 35 other lads who are the wrong side of 40 years old, we all stood and had a minutes silence for one of the blokes dads who died last week then went at each other hammer and tongs, plenty of fire, plenty of hunger and then shook hands at the end. Half those lads are also coaching under age teams……there is probably a connection to 400 players on that pitch tonight both old and young. I know it used to cost me at least £500 of my money a year to Coach youth sides and them lads will all be doing the same…..just because they are football lads.
