cheers for the reply lads, iv only had her on rabbits this season, iv been out exercising her a few times and she has coursed a few hares but they where well over 200 yards away at the time so didnt have a chance realy. i got her at just under a year, she had no training and wouldnt even sit to any comand. but she was obviously a hunter when i took her out for a walk before i got her, marking holes that usualy have rabbits in as i lamped that area before. i spent the whole of last summer training her, she now sits and stays with hand signals and walks at heel of the lead when told, rabbits are also live to hand.

i have to admit though she was the most hardest dog to train, she was stubborn and deaf most of the time. then it was like a light went on in her head and she just started doing it within a week or 2 she was quite well trained. i think it was coz i started training her when she was going through her teenage stage.

unfortunatly she has been spade so no breeding back to another dog, this is her major down fall but now iv got her i wouldnt get rid of her. although i did have an itchy trigger finger afew times when i first got her.

thanks anyway for your honest opinions on my bitch

oh yeah she stands at about 25" and weights roughly 55lbs

i would love to see some pics of anyone that has owned/worked a cross like this.

if she does nothing but rabbits in her working life i would still keep her, i may sound soppy but she is a right character and works her arse off, i think if she didnt work that well she would be a good pet anyway. its just good that she is a rabbit killer aswell. it may be the 8 pints of guinness talking. i will try her on red vermin with another dog this season aswell only retreiving a shot one though. anyone heard of a dog like this doing that? i talked to a bloke up the pub tonight reckoned that anything with collie blood in it hates old charlie by nature and would have one. this bloke reckoned that its an old instinct heard and protect sheep. hes an old boy who is set in his ways.

what do you think lads?
