 The little bitch in the photo was a real nice animal,...mostly Whippet/Collie and a bit of Greyhound...

A bit of lamping and ferreting mate I give that young lad that bitch to get him into the hunting game and he took to it like a duck to water hopefully we our going to breed her at.the end of next season with my whippet greyhound dog

Beddy/whippet X grey, 23 inches, basically a bred down grew with a rough coat and an attitude.

It really don't matter whats in her either imo, she's a nice size, a good lift from the off and the determination i like in a youngster. It really is just a case of numbers...

that’s a nice looking type.. looks built for the job I think most of us are in the same boat these days scratching about for rabbits?... if I catch five or 25 I enjoy it all the same just love to be out watching the dogs work just not the numbers anymore biggest bag season just gone was 20 rabbits with two pups the spot holds its number hoping this year it has picked up again

What I didn't post up & should of is the major strong asset "happy " has is he has beagle type  tracking nose ,he can enter cover long after the other dogs, and catch the rabbit .He listens a lot  & is great at taking a rabbit out of its seat by sneaking up head down ,tail up , sounds much like the dog you commented on lamperNM. However  a lurcher type or a pure whippet would be my choice for a rabbiting dog.

I personally think a rabbiting dog shouldn’t be to big and definitely not to small something around 21-23” TTS. Quick off the mark, agile ,soft mouthed , good nose and tough not just feet but physically and mentally .So basically a pup from parents that have those attributes would be my choice not necessarily based on breed type. Obviously no guarantees on the out come but gives you a fighting chance.

But the biggest clincher on choosing a pup is the wife’s got to like it

24" rather than 23" but has the speed, stamina,  tough feet etc, uses her nose when required, natural retrievers, good strike and breeds true to type

Although I'd class  her as general purpose rather than a rabbit specialist.
