Correct his spelling, turn his pics round, feed him a burger now and again, and he's not a bad lad Cheers. 1 4 Quote Link to post

fred90 3,210
on a more serious note, I know that picture of Phil and the lads isn't that long ago, when you look at the dire state of the rabbit population in many places up and down the country, you wouldn't think a day like that would be possible. 3 Quote Link to post
OldPhil 5,718
Aye, you are 100% correct Fred There ARE places in the UK where good quantities of conies could be taken,. .but,.. those big bag days, are possibly destined to be,.. a thing of the past... My own feelings are that I have personally killed 'more than enough ' quarry .. This is why, we did not hit the 100 rabbit day on that recent foray,....the truth is, the rabbits were available , but I confess to not playing my part and assisting the other lads very much...I'm sure my behaviour was noted.. I used to be a relentless hunter, and no amount of rabbits, hares or deer was ever enough... I was obsessed.... But,.. not any more.... Edited April 28, 2022 by OldPhil 4 Quote Link to post

I found some dogs gave up quickly and started playing silly beggars, yet other would give in out of tiredness, some would keep going till they dropped, these dogs were often run till they died or were totaly blown out. others would run hard and only stop when you asked them, if trained and brought on correctly these were the massive bag dogs. The best dog I ever had was great on rabbits, even in the small midland fields, yet when I got him on foxes he totally ignored rabbits for years. when I moved and stopped foxing, he took to rabbits again and amassed a fantastic tally in his life. 4 Quote Link to post
