While Abbott said Texans would no longer be legally required to cover their faces in public, he urged them to keep doing so, and many businesses continued to require masks - so they are still wearing masks that's from your link

Remember working for a couple of year's in an horrendous factory in Rotherham that made rubber seals for the car industry that was owned by the Japanese the Japanese management always wore the blue medical masks we see now maybe they new then by wearing masks it reduced the risk of picking up airborne viruses.

No its custom in chinky countries to wear masks if you think you have something you may pass on. The blue masks don't stop you breathing anything in, they are designed to stop your breath spreading outwards no stuff inwards. You would need a filtering mask to reduce breathing stuff inwards....
