No problems at all but since those red snapper have big strong fin spikes running down from the head we just have some heavy duty rubber matting that we place over part of the tube where we land any sea fish .The tubes outer coat is very tuff & I've never been worried about hooks ,you just got to be careful. This one has a new mec 30hp fitted on her so she flies . 1 Quote Link to post

No all the trout we target are wild & found in wild rivers ,the season on most waters either starts on the Ist October & runs till April or May or runs right though to the 30th of September, so some waters are open all year round . We buy one licence for about 60 pounds & off you go ,no waters in NZ ,that has trout, is private . 1 Quote Link to post

Many thanks for replying mate and i'd thought of putting some matting as such over the side just to make sure type thing,my one has a merc on it and at 115 HP with a 175 brain in it it does get you there rather sharpish. We got it for off shore as we have a bonwitco 400 with a 25 HP Yamaha for the inshore bits we do,thanks again and please keep the posts coming... Now bet your boat REALLY flys with that big donk .I should mention while I could use my boat local it would be rare to get the weather right ,our water is cold & there is no land mast between the bottom of the South Island and the polar cap ,the sea is a killer and every year good sized fishing boats are lost along with their crews ,a 5 meter swell is common place and the weather can change within a few minute's.Ive been out years ago when I was still young & silly and can still remember looking up and seeing a 10 meter high wall of water racing down from above me .I stick to the harbours now ,that has seen me still waking up each morning lol .
