Look at how many first cross collie/greys that are brindle, just as an example. Don't need both parents to have brindle genes in to have brindle pups. 1 Quote Link to post

Edited to add, in my area of south wales, jack russells and staffs were probably the most commonly kept dogs about 40 odd years ago, and crosses of them, planned and unplanned were fairly frequent.
