I just can't contain myself, I've got the Akita on a slip practicing some dummy runs, signs of rabbit everywhere but still, not a hare in site.

Out in the deep fog practicing my eye training methods, after today I can safely say I'd spot a hare a county or two away.

Zoning my eyes in mate, these exercises leave you with 20/5 vision.

No need to carry hunting paraphernalia like thermals or binoculars with me, just call the dog and boom.

You just have to use your noggin don't you fella.

I mean a big gangly deerhound type that is screaming out pup will mature a lot later than a beddy type or saluki type for that matter.

I think the benefits of getting them out and about outweigh the risks of what if.

Each to their own, some dogs are flying before they're 14-24 months but then again some are finished because stupid owners have ran them to death and sickened them.

Your contradicting your self there now Greb. You've just said some are flying before 14 - 24 months old an finished because they've ran them to death a don't get you mate. ,You said it's sound putting a pup behind something at 6 8 months. Lol An a saluki x takes more time to bring on than a deer hound x Greb.

How am I contradicting myself, any dog can be broken mate.

And of course some dogs are flying by that age, are you saying they aren't?

Are you still pissed from last nights half of Barnsley Bitter lad? Lol. Now where did I say I think folk should be slipping their 6-8 months on hares, if you're going to start fibbing at least make it believable. ?

never learn what lol

i tell you what i have learned a dog chasing about other dogs from 10 week out jumping dykes in woods getting stuff up using its nose from 6 month is it a miles better place come 18 month then one walked on a lead a babyed mate

No-one has said to keep a pup on a lead and baby it til it's 18 months old, all pups need to run around, explore and learn things.  I'll have all my young dogs, walking through woods etc, off lead, following me around/through trees, patches of rough ground etc etc.  BUT, I wouldn't be entering them on hares until they were physically and mentally ready, which will be nowhere near 9 months old.

Your dogs, do what you like, I just think it's a bit silly and lack of patience entering them on hares at that age, purposely or accidentally.  It's easy enough to exercise young dogs where there are no hares. ?
