Yes I suppose but still, a saluki at top speed is still going some, they aren't slow by any stretch of the imagination.

No but how long does it take to get to full speed, and how does its head work when it’s looking at the quarry. I’ve a dog here and if you give him quarry in vast spaces far away he runs them better then something zinging about close to stuff. Although he’s being educated in the latter. But he yearns for big open land and will walk out of a wood to stare across the prairie rather than hunt up as much.

Sankey put blondie to a greyhound to breed a dog for himself when he stopped running fens, not sure how good it was and never heard of any decent pups out of the dog he kept

I used to run whippets at the same track as Alan's dad, at Ashington, he had a good dog called bucephalas.

God, I'm starting to feel very old ! ? !

Cheers.

Really, even compared to something like a 3/4 collie or bull greyhound?

You'd think that being pure sighthound they would hold their own against a 3/4 on the smaller fields.

Get one and find out, don’t say I didn’t tell you, it’s only 18 months of rearing and entering to find out then you will have to get another pup and start again ?

No bullshit lads, I'm not saying he's been a great breeder but he's had some great dogs no doubt.

I know many think he's mad as a box of frogs but the owner of Lucky told me to breed my own pups by finding the fastest and meanest lamping bitch I can find and put a pure over it.

I was pissing myself listening to him like, seems a character alright.

If you was talking to man who bred lucky he knows more on dogs than you will ever dream of knowing

That bad?

That's what I can't get my head around mate, you'd think they would be much better than a 3/4 collie x greyhound at catching hares.

I mean I caught quite a few with my old dog out on mooches but he wasn't an out and out hare dog by any means.

Geoff Fletchers Tay running against Gary Lees Sergeant?

Yes that was it Geoff fletchers dog not lal hardys, I think the dog was a good 10 lengths ahead at least when it got to the hare but that Sargent looked like a bit of a plodder to be fair.

One last thing did you get your username from a Clint Eastwood film called high plains drifter, I saw it when I was scrolling through the tv the other day and it made me think of your username, I think you’ve tried to mix it up a bit by putting low instead of high ?

Wasn't one of lucky's parents part whippet, 1/2 or 1/4?

Seem to recall that being mentioned quite a few years ago?

You're right mate, this is what he messaged me.

Best thing to do is get a fast fast f***ing fastest  meanest lamp bitch then put it to a pure saluki dog easy same as Kim sniper tillys bitch all out of lamp bitches because there hard and fast to pure breed your own pal don’t buy in to theses internet dogs shit they are

Not forgetting a good lamping dog will have a good mouth and hopefully put the strike into their offspring.
