a few year ago leeview of here put up an article ....in that article it had the months hares breed...it was in persentages it also stated if i remember right that hares will mate in winter ...but was believed that they would often abort early leverets...and im sure it stated that the main month for leverets being born was july...

now of course this doesnt mean you couldnt get a leveret at other times...i think its fare to say the main time from them is through late spring summer and early autumn ....i have killed a few half grown ones in late winter....that must have been born in november...

was an interesting article...

oh just like to ad.....been seeing a few hares just round my house sitting together...not seen them box yet ...but pairing up...but thats not unusual ...bit like partridges ...pair up but not necessarily breeding yet

Isn't it Roe Deer that breed in the summer but hold off from having their young in the winter until the following spring/early summer?

Was seeing 3/4 in nov down here was a good yr fir breeding

earliest i see little new borns is  may tomo like you say the half growns in winter are from late in the last year

i disagree mate ..a half grown one caught in febuary is more than likely born late october november ....a hare is fully grown well before a year old ...most likely around 6..9 month..
