I've had one of Alan's dogs I kept him back till he was 14 months ran him on till he was just over two very good dog. A was rushed into hospital for a duodenal ulcer which burst my stomach..Was toes up for 5 months so a sold the dog to kipper called reggie. Was great in cover I've not had a dog what could stick to them like he could. A can remember him smashing through this sloe bushes deep thick cover an a thought it's gone an he was in an out back over to this grass area then back over to the sloe bushes an this went on for a good 2 mins. I asked How's he getting on he said mustard mate. To hear that a was glad but gutted at the same time what life at the time had thrown me. But a did right for the dog a was in recovery for 18 months.

Ive an eight month pup here who looks like it could pull a bull down, but it's still a daft pup !

When it does that mad, full speed, pretend coursing around a field, you can think " it'll kill a hare , no problem" , but a puppy playing around in an empty field is massively different to being towed around on a grueller !

Mistakes can happen when an unexpected one jumps up, but try and let them be pups, don't ruin them by being impatient. They can do the job for you for years, if treated right

What about African Wild Dogs mate, probably the closest structural wise to a saluki type, they start hunting at around 12 months of age.

12 months is different to 6 months an there just running round a track. An at 12 months there running round a flapping track nice an steady working them up my uncle runs greyhound at Stainforth  an Sheffield has done for 40 years.. Your talking about having him off now on land at 6 months walking land an accidentally pulling one

You've just looked that up mate clever f****r its just come up at 12 months old but don't become expert hunters until 18 months put that in mate if your guna tell the proper knowledge of the wild dog lol

Of course, Iooked it up cos it's common sense that they will hurt by that age ya pudding. I mean what wild dogs don't start hunting until they're 2 year old ffs.

Your on Same wave length as mc they start running with the pack at 12 months an become good hunters at 18 months. An when as 2 years been 14 months an 18 months. The key word is start mate. 

Nobody has said you should run them in to the ground in their first season, just steady entering knocking a few over. 

What are we debating again, 12, 18 24, I'm lost now.
