Saluki's and their crosses.

What a thread ? I'm enjoying it from the side lines, just like when your out in your motor taking a drive through the countryside during the season and you spot a couple of chaps with their dogs running on ground they shouldn't be. All you can do is pull in and watch from the side line's! Love it?

I think a dog that knows how to kill it's quarry and has been taken to various types of ground to excercise that knowlage and triumphed, is worth its weight in gold.

This is a very good point. I think it’s true of all areas of dog work. There are some dogs who have made a rep, have put a lot of stuff away but the men have always travelled to put things in the dogs favour. Which is fair enough, but bags don’t tell the whole tale. A dog that catches the stuff other dogs wouldn’t is more impressive.

you mean them travel to the big open land because its easy and  hares cant go any were ?

I was more thinking other stuff. But you know what I mean, not just the numbers of game, but certain ground and certain pockets of animals make for easier catching.

In terms of a working dog, range of different game and land, how does a saluki compare to a Saluki lurcher? What would be the advantages/disadvantages of both?

By adding greyhound you're adding acceleration and speed, those two traits ensure dogs reach their quarry earlier, better if you lamp or run on smaller fields.

A saluki lurcher be good all land all game mate ?

A saluki a good one hard to find but would do the same

A saluki lurcher easier to find a good one on average but a pure have more stamina on average
