What I did was I told you a story that’s true and there are other witnesses on here. The bitch in question caught all of those things, she was never ever a hare dog, she just had a big enough heart to

If I do get another lurcher it will be a small type after seeing my mates whippet x springer and looking after her for a week when he was on holiday this is a cross or a lab cross I would contemplate getting.

Its not a first x, far from it, but I put the whippet Russell dog over my pat springer bitch last year and kept a couple of bitches back, and another couple close to me, with a view to putting a grew over one of them in the future if they are good enough. If everything goes to plan I think they would suit me, basically whippet terrier crosses with a dash of spaniel. I'll be happy to have kept the old dogs blood going too and he's been good as has the busher bitch. It's a long term plan and it's meant next season and probably the one after I won't have a lurcher to run so I hope it doesn't end badly lol. You never know unless you try though I guess

Hear this a lot, as tho it’s the dogs fault, rather then the owners fault for getting a firstx an expecting a speed machine, it would be like me saying I owned me first an only pure grey years back, it couldn’t handle 50/60/70 runs a night, it was shite ?

I was 8 years old and took what i was given lol, learnt a lot from it but seeing it get straight lined was heart breaking for a young  lad and the bitch. By the time I was 13 i was looking for something with a bit more versatility.

Not a first cross, but something I've thought of more than a few times over the years, a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 german shepherd.  I get on with gsd temperament etc, owned a cracking bitch years ago.

3/4 greyhound, as I believe they'd be a little more versatile than a first cross, but I'm basing that on a lot of the ground I've ran dogs on, the last so many years, so maybe a tad unfounded?  But you really do need plenty of pace in most of these places.

I did consider putting Birds Buck over a galgo as no one was using him as a stud and it seemed a shame, recon he would bring a lot to a racy type of lurcher for those wanting something with a bit of strength but plenty of brain, but worried about homing all the pups so decided against it

I think gundogs are massively under used in the lurcher world for mooching day time hunting partners

Bull terrier?

A half galgos bull terrier be slower than half grey bull terrier ?but if kept 3 pups back  then ran them all at once you might have some luck but at least with half bull grey you  only need 2 less shit to pick up ? ? ?
