I think its only a matter of time until hardball needs to come into play re Europe. They seem to still be under the illusion that they can dictate to the UK.

Here we will wait for another whitewashed commission to be initiated by Bent Boris.

Imagine that, a politician that’s full of shit ?
Never thought I’d see it in my lifetime ! Lol

40 years on from the Falklands crisis: what realistically would the response be if it happened today......?

Depends what you're asking exactly. If Argentina invaded the islands again then frankly the boyscouts could kick them out, their military is in a shit state whereas ours has updated pretty much the full spectrum of capabilities.

It'd be much more of a serious situation facing off an enemy with comparable kit to ours like they did in 82. Many factors to consider, not least of all the diplomatic aspect of being taken for a soft touch post brexit if we did nothing substantial.

Its a bunch of fishermen picketing for one day and people want a military intervention lol. The British, french and Norwegian fishermen have been shafted by this government, lots will go to the wall because it was just ignored. The fisheries minister didn't even bother to read the agreement as she was to busy arranging a nativity play. At the end of the day we sit next door to a super power and they will dictate what they want and we will fall in line, we have no say on their decisions so have no option. So rather than getting angry at the fishermen trying to protect their way of life get angry at the politicians who did feck all to support any of them.

Ah yeah, the EU have us exactly where they want us! Five years ago they had a meeting and decided that they were going to get us to unilaterally leave the club and then not dance to their tune while negotiating our new relationship.

The EU is the worlds largest political union and single market along with being the biggest foreign aid donor, this means they have both economic might, which is where power lays in the modern world, and having soft power, through their aid, to increase future power.

But they're not considered a super power. They're considered a prospective super power due to their lack of true unity and lack of supreme military command. There's still only one established super power.
