LuckOrJudgement 437
Anyone done a bona-fide wasp nest yet this year? Just had a call from a customer who says he has one in the loft. Quote Link to post
Ken's Deputy 4,460
Confirmed live? Or something they found on going up there and freaked out about? Subject caught my eye, simply because I got buzzed by my first wasp of the year, middle of last week. Quote Link to post

lurchers 2,917
I’ve got one to do today as they said they are getting into the lounge.Probably left the windows open on night shift so the light has attached them in.Normal practice on some of the homes we do but they never open the windows, must think we are stupid Quote Link to post
DIDO.1 22,851
Few phone calls about big wasps buzzing about....2 masonry bee colonies causing panic and removed a queen cell that turned out to be a few few years old. Edited April 20, 2021 by DIDO.1 1 Quote Link to post
LuckOrJudgement 437
Update: no nest, just lots of dopey queens on the windowsills. I shooed them all out before the customer could douse them down with Raid. So, its shaping up to be a good year for wasps. 1 Quote Link to post

Torquemada 288
I wonder if it will be a good year, it's been freezing at night last couple of weeks, not usually a good sign. Quote Link to post

I think they will be OK....i reckon a frost at night ain't to bad....its constant wet and cold I think hurts em. Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
There was a bee swarm while I was out fishing today. First time I have seen one and it was nothing like what I had expected. I thought they would be closely packed together, but they were scattered about over the whole of the sky that I could see. We've had a few queen wasps in our bottle traps. Quote Link to post
LuckOrJudgement 437
Ive got a queen just started building a nest above the bench in my workshed. Fascinating to watch but progress is slow at the moment. I think we need some consistently higher tempretures to get things moving. I opened my woodshed and disturbed a queen which crashlanded on the grass outside and took a while to recover itself before flying off. Quote Link to post
DIDO.1 22,851
Queens everywhere at the minute. Every loft I go in at the minute seems to have a couple buzzing around Quote Link to post
lurchers 2,917
Ya will need about a gallon to get it going quickly Quote Link to post
lurchers 2,917
Just remember it’s chilly at the minute so keep the heat in. Quote Link to post
Ken's Deputy 4,460
Actually, Katch; I always find the best policy is to drench it well first. Then, walk away. Put on a black hoodie and ruck sack. Wrap a scarf round ye face and come back to lob a properly prepared Molotov at it. They'll assume you're antifa and no one will say a word. Police won't even look your way Quote Link to post
