Deker 3,478
This has gone through my mind several times over the years so who can help please.....The question is....why, when all the females have virtually identical seasons is the Roe Buck season so different to all the other males? CWD who have only just had a season introduced, they have the Buck at a slightly different time to all the other males as well. England/Wales/N Ireland Red Stags Aug 1st - April 30th Hinds Nov 1st - March 31st Fallow Bucks Aug 1st - April 30th Does Nov 1st - March 31st Sika Stags Aug 1st - April 30th Hinds Nov 1st - March 31st Roe Bucks April 1st - Oct 31st Does Nov 1st - March 31st Red/Sika Hybrids Stags Aug 1st - April 30th Hinds Nov 1st - March 31st Chinese Water Deer Bucks Nov 1st - March 31st Does Nov 1st - March 31st Muntjac No Closed Season** Edited January 14, 2008 by Deker Quote Link to post
jake 1
Hi Deker. the answer to your question is a bit long winded for me to type with one finger, so go to www.roedeer.com/roereproduction. Hope it helps Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
Thanks for taking the time to help guys..I did appreciate it was to do with the silly season but the dates for male/female of the Roe still don't seem to add up in the same way as the other species, especially the Buck. Perhaps its more to do with actual control/commercialism rather than parenting. Thanks for the help. Cheers Deker Quote Link to post
