Never had no issues with the bin men tbh just the fekin council who have raised the garden waste bin again to nearly £50 a year and like Goly has said most use bin liners and I often shove waste plastic in the waste bin in the kitchen that then goes into the the household waist bin and nobody's the wiser when emptying the bin into the back of the waggon.

Chucked the bin in the wagon then realised he had no bin so had to chase the wagon.....I'm fckin crying here 🤣

There was no way I was going to pay £25 for a new one lol.

Boiled my piss, bin full to the rafters just before Easter and they wouldn't take it, no, not having it, it was getting emptied one way or another, it was either the wagon or the council yard. Lol

No excuses for fly tipping but trying to book a house tip, you'd think you were dumping nuclear fecking waste FFS. Like Tats said, people now think feck that for a game of soldiers, bag it up and throw it in, so much for recycling.

I dunno about the tips around your way , but I split the tips for my crew today , and we had £460 each ( some crews had considerably more this year).

I don't really drink these days , so I gave most of the booze and chocolates away that I was given , all I've kept is a pack of cider , a pack of lager ( for visitors ), and one bottle of scotch , to put in my tea when I get a cold.

I used to have a loader that would take fresh fruit and veg from the green bins . He was a freegan , and everything he owned , clothes , computer , phone , pushbike , all came from skips at the back of a shopping centre. He had dreadlocks with pigeon rings as beads . He used to catch the pigeons on the balcony of his flat , and eat them 😄

Don't think anyone tips the binmen around here anymore as it's not like years ago when bin men had to go up paths and through gates then you knew the regular lads and their names. I only tip our regular window cleaner and the lad who cuts my hair in a barbers in Rotherham. Where as years ago it would be a tip for the milkman the window cleaner the coalman the binman and any other who provided a regular service through the year even if it was only a few bob.

I'm not surprised the standards are so poor, there's no official training for garbage men, they just pick it up as they go along......

I know a few lads who were on the tins they used to call them in the 70s and 80s and said it was collar and hard graft to get there rounds done to have Friday off and bins full of ashes from coal fires must have been heavy to say the least. Some of the young binmen for Rotherham council don't know their born these days compaired to what it was like in the past. Lol 😆

Been there. Steel bins full of ash and corroded bottoms which allowed all sorts of rubbish, including dog shit and piss to escape. Plenty of perks though..scrap metal for one. I was really fit. Hard graft but start early finish early. I enjoyed it. Good camaraderie. Some interesting blokes to work with. Most customers friendly. Pay OK and you had the freedom to get part time second jobs if you wanted to.

I rang our council said not paying for the garden waste so what should I do with the grass cuttings they said put in your grey rubbish bin so that's what I do and they always take it

It's a completely different job these days tats . We used to know most residents by name , and if they were going on holiday , they'd let us know , and we'd make sure to collect their refuse from the back garden , or wherever it was . You'd take extra rubbish if they were decorating,  or having a bit of a clear out.

I've spent plenty of my tacho break times cutting an old person's lawn /hedge , or clearing rubbish out of their back garden because they couldn't manage it themselves,  but those days are long gone unfortunately.

Back in those days , a five man crew , would collect the rubbish from 250 properties . These days , our three man crews , collect the rubbish from up to 2,500 properties . The trucks all have cameras on them as well now , so you're constantly being watched and listened to.

Most of the time , It's a really f***ing miserable job these days.

Like I said mate some of the lads i know who worked on the bins back in the day told me it was a proper grafting job in all weather's and a few lads i knew even ended up leaving the job on the bins to go down the pit for an easier job.

Green waste bins , and recycling bins , generally get checked for contaminated waste , because contaminated waste cost the council quite a bit to get rid of , but the general household refuse bins , don't really get checked ( in most boroughs) . In the future , you're general refuse bin will be charged by weight , and getting rid of leaves like that will probably be really expensive.

A lot of folks don't realise , that when they contaminate a bin , they end up paying for it with council tax increases.

I think charging twice for green waste collection is a complete and utter rip off . It's just another way of increasing council tax.
