I can't stick people who ask me to do a job then lecture me on pest control and try and prove they know more than me.

"See mate I could of sorted this rat issue myself (even though it's gone on for 3 years) cos I know all about rats as I used to go shooting. I know how they don't have a skeleton/can chew through concrete/are immune to normal poison/are repelled by chilli flakes. But like yeah I just thought I'd phone you"

People who pretend they know shit when they know f**k all... Its rife in middle management in the building game, where you have to sit and listen to absolute bullshit until you get your chance to

Did you get any nice presents mate ?. I got a new watch.

There's a lot of armchair experts on getting rid of mice n rats ,and they all seem to have a problem with them ,despite their expertise lol

A hard hat ain't helping if you fall mate, I think the main reason is the blanket h&s rules on site, a case of no preferential treatment as if the roofers aren't wearing them the rest will take them off.

Just meant working/falling from heights in general, mate.  Like if you was wearing a hard hat, you'd be less likely to suffer serious head injuries if you did happen to receive a good bang to the head.

And when I said 'I've been there' I didn't mean I fell off a roof, just the head injury part lol.  👍

Mr bothers bother in law fell 30 foot through a roof light mate, he had just left us to work for another company... me and my wife were at the hospital when we got the news, all of us thought he was dead..no one survives that! He wasn't and he's now fine, suffered a lot of bruising internal and external and a few small minor breaks, he is so lucky to be alive!

I've fallen twice and been lucky to get away with nothing, when we started we didn't even use scaffolds or safety nets, looking back it's funking stupid! I never put anyone working for me at risk, always full scaffold and netting, I'll walk from Jobs if they're not prepared to pay for the safety requirements (some still see it as a waste of money!!).

I do however think the big site mentality has gone mental, health and safety has created more jobs for middle management wankers who've never learnt a trade or even worked on a site..some insisting on goggles worn at all times, regardless if its passing down and your up 50ft and can't see a thing!!

I'm out of the big main contractor thing, I couldn't handle the bullshit anymore..  working direct for developers or personal clients etc keeps me sane on the building side of things...another big contractor went pop down here last week, took some lads for up to £75k.... I've been there as well, giving thousands of pounds of credit to companies that make your life a misery and then don't want to pay you...whilst ramming bullshit health and safety down your throat... nah
