Is that the dog that does be on Mikeys YouTube videos??

The only thing is where do you find a decent Irish terrier that works, to bred a lurcher, that’s not a dig. Looks a tidy dog in those videos ?

Yes this is the dog in mikeys YouTube vids. And yes I get what your saying 100%, where do you find good a good Irish terrier in the uk? I was tempted to get one to work myself and put it to a whippet but the price of them put me off ?

Would u go for the same breeding again if u had another dog

Id like to always have a pure whippet around... so if I lost my whippet I’d get another pure but if I needed another lurcher and I had the chance for another of this breeding I’d 100% go for it. He’s everything I need in a working dog. perfect height, build, speed, nose, drive and thick skin. If I could recreate that dog I’d take it every time.

What sort of variation do you get in a litter of Irish terrier x whippets Jess do they breed relative uniform like f1 beddy xs ? Interesting cross

Was a strange litter, some look like pure whippets, one was broken coated, one looks like a saluki whippet ? most of the dogs were strong types. A few inches difference in height between the biggest dog and smallest bitch. But these are 3/4s... the dogs I seen from the first X litter all looked the same stamp of dog tbh. Rough coated, solid build and round about the same height.

Here’s one. Would You say that’s down to the breeding ? Or the dog? Often find folk want to Recreate dogs which can’t be. Ie can you say his good traits come from the Irish terrier ?

I know I’ll never get another the same as him, you can’t re create dogs. But it’s the breeding that’s thrown everything Iv listed. You can’t teach prey drive or magic up thick skin and strong build out of thin air. The only reason I really went for that x was to basicallY build a stronger dog than my whippet with a better coat.

I can see the Lurcher to Lurcher breeding, it makes sense.

But folk going out and searching for an Irish terrier for a first x etc, it’s a bit the same as the beddies.......don’t really get the point of those 1st xs out of the rare breed stuff.

Your dog looks a smart one, but I don’t know if I’d say the Irish terrier was the magic ingredient.

I prefer the 3/4 stuff myself, you lose too much speed with half terrier... just something differnt isn’t it, im enjoying it ?? Got the chance to use my whippet over half X for a pup back so jumped at the chance. I get on with the dog so it all worked out great.

I think that’s it, the next gen is easier to see what you get, you’ve two runners doing what you like and hope for pups the same. But it’s the first xs that I struggle with, although i guess you need them For the next step in the process.

Still throw backs mate with Lurcher to Lurcher I think the best way to guarantee a dog that can run for a living is base Lurchers to heavy sight hound Lurchers or straight sight hound but I get what your saying I think the same with f1s of most crosses some id own an take a chance on ie beddy greyhound or collie greyhound some I don’t see the point in for me f1 beddy whippets or collie whippets don’t see the point in when a straight working whippet has the job in hand unless your after a dog to just crawl about with but every man has his/her preference

Pretty much the same as most f1s uniformed then when something else is added you get a all sorts litter then Jess ??

Morning, taken a step back from quad bikes and hounds - Don’t need the grief anymore. Having moved house my country has changed, curious of those that do hunt the hills with their lurches and a terrier at your heel, how do you bring them on? Getting the right dog for the job is no brainier but what about the training? Thanks.

Hi lads what's the best think I can do to heal this cut on my dogs paw

      **sorry for the double post**
I know I'm probably going to get the piss severely ripped out of me for asking this, but
Has anyone ever successfully trained a deaf lurcher (from two working parents and I own her 4 year old sister who is an awesome little bunny basher.)
Genetically she has potential, but...what do you experts think?
She's not a Double merle by the way, it's extreme piebald/white head. Her vision is perfect
