Lol I like talking to those sorts too mate. Funny enough I was talking to an old boy the other night for a few hours, tops up he started the roofing firm in town. They do the same as you, anyway he was chatting and talking about this and that and I’m thinking “This old bloke has a few quid”......anyway, a few night later another bloke who was there was telling me this old boy lost €6 million when the Celtic tiger went pop.....and he is still wealthy as f**k ! Drives a Vito van about ! Lol His boys run the firm now anyway, but a proper interesting, nice, polite and understated old boy who it was very enjoyable to sit and chat to for a few hours.

Around 20 years ago the prices in Ireland for industrial roofing and cladding were over double what we were getting over here, I knew a good few gangs who headed over and made good money....sounds like your man got it right...Good on him.. Always enjoyed older people's company mate, I took my lad out with an old lad salmon netting a few years back, traditional seine netting on the exe...my mums family have done this for 60 odd years and this old boy is a long friend imof the family, still at it at 87 years old... Sat up the front of the boat giving commands and our little team doing the graft... I told my lad to listen to him all day, he knows more about this river and everything around the small town my mum is from than anyone else we know ... we had 4 salmon that day, a few mullet and flounder.. that were put back, but I learnt a shit load and I grew up on that river.... he died a few months back, was over 90 years old.... people like him can never be replaced, the traditions are gone with them...my cousin was last seine netting boat on the river and the licenses are now all revoked...end of an era. 2

He was also mustard up the BC, took me out on the reef at Lilstock the first time I fished it...what a baptism of fire!! Lol Edited March 17, 2021 by NEWKID

Lol Part of an estate that track and they do your tyres if they see cars there. That river has got a few cracking little spots mate. Lilstock was the first reef I fished, I'd rather a mark that doesn't give me a time restriction. I really like Brean, hard walk but easy to fish and lots of gear

Lilstock is hard fishing but some big cod have come off there, I've only had em up to 3 or 4lb myself but my ex bro in law had one just under 15 off there...used to fish 2 hours down 2 hours up on the reef and walk back up and fish off the pipe over the flood ...hard walking and fishing... Never fished Brean mate....thats all mud there aint it? Done a fair bit the other side when I worked in Cardiff for 3 months...Ogmore, Barry, witches point (had a turbot and a spotted ray in consecutive cast there), Aberthaw (did retrieve one rig, that is as rough a place as I fished....fuckung clueless I was lol).... Not fished the channel for years now...

Not fished the channel for years now... We went lilstock to try for smuts but just had straps. Few Teignmouth lads fished the pipe over low and had a few to just over 10, my f***ing luck We fish the down at Brean, its rough in close and few reefs out there but mostly mud. Can be a pig to get down to land fish without a rope but can be a very prolific mark. The Welsh lads been pulling out rays all this week from witches and white light. Seen spotty, thorns, smalleye and blonds. One lad has had a pair of Thorneys both over 12 and a smalleye over 13. Lucky fuckers 29th distant for recreation is removed and I'll definitely be going up the channel
