SheepChaser 8,089
To be fair and looking at it from the other side - the ban has a lot to do with the behaviour of some folk now. Realistically the reason some folk drive the land, is if you’re in the middle of one of the 100-150 acre fields here on foot and it comes on top, you’re had. If you leave your motor if might get busted on busted up, so you drive, it comes on top you drive off, across whatever you have to. Same with leaving stuff, if you’re gonna lose your dog and motor you aren’t going to take three poxy hares home but will ditch them maybe, and so it goes. Not saying it’s right but if there wasn’t a ban and folk weren’t getting chased around like terrorists them maybe half the problems wouldn’t be there. 2 Quote Link to post

OldPhil 5,893
Last season, I was told by the Keepers to kill all the hares,...they felt that old Puss was like a magnet to lampers.... My partner offered to shoot the lot under the lamp,...I didn't fancy the job and left him to it.... I don't mind taking a brace for the old folks or netting Hares for re-location , but shooting them at night with a rifle and silencer, holds no pleaseure for me. Each to there own though,... AndyD89 253
I’m from a gamekeeping background and can see this from both sides , iv seen so many times both while I was keepering and since, people given permission to go on land only to then completely take the piss and run a muck. It’s these few dickheads that can make farmers and land owners hesitant to give permission where lurchers are concerned. It’s the same with a lot of things, a few pricks make things harder for everyone one else . Was talking to a farmer last year about doing abit of ferreting and pigeon shooting, conversions going well an he’s all for it ( I’m thinking mint, this is in the bag) soon as I mention a lurcher hes like ohhh im not being funny but I’m not so keen on that, let some lads from Carlisle with lurchers come on, next thing I know me diesel tanks empty!!! He still let me on in the end , but it made him think. 2 Quote Link to post
