and thats what i was saying back a bit, their really not for thrashing a dozen foxes a week or piling deer ceiling high, they make a good sporting dog,do a bit of everything for you ,but stick em on foxes 3/4 times a week i think youd see the end of them after time .slip them on a hare and it will be a hell of a run...for a while ...if your not that hyped and you wont start thrashing the ground or the hedge if one escapes their bloody good fun...My mate that kept the deerhound x and pures is a big greyhound man,hes into coursing since he was a child..he has a bitch, and she has killed and will kill all the foxes you put in front of her,,she is a mad fecking thing...and i mean mad ...she has a litter under her now ,and the pups are 4k a pup for dogs,3 for bitches.top coursing bred pups...all bar 2 are gone and no advertising whatsoever..ive sounded him out on knocking a litter from her out of either a collie or saluki stud....aint happening lol,,,but i planted a seed ,so wait in hope lol

I like the pure greyhounds myself, seen a few handy ones over the years.

The old first x deer/grey bitch I have was out of Westmead Hawks sister. Very fast in her day for a 29", 75lb bitch. Cheers.

get a good whippet over her....

Bones are like glass and no stamina iv a bitch here was a terrible state when I got her she was that skinny you could see the shape of her skull, when I phoned about her fella told me she was a small

I saw a black dog hound ,that was used week in week out and he was taking and killing foxes with gusto for a few years ,i was offered him  at 5 years old but didnt have the kennel space, one morning he took a deer with another dog and after that there wasnt a sheep safe in the country with him...he would have made some stud for a lurcher cross,...i ended putting him to sleep for the owner ,twas a pity he didnt get a home ...theres a few handy ones about if you look hard for them

I've had a few and had a bit of fun with them. They are a perfect racing machine and an integral part of creating a lurcher but........

Mind there's not many pure breeds that would do a better job as an all rounder.

There was a big coursing bred dog up this way maybe 25 years ago that a local scumbag owned, its only job was killing stuff at night on the lamp, never had much running to do but was supposed to of been lethal at it, big dog of 32 inches that had no quit in him as much as the owner tried to break him. Ended up killed on the road after getting out of the man's back garden.

As far as greyhound racing is concerned its all about who's got the best drugs. Very little honest men left in the game and what chance do they have running against dogs pumped full of gear.

Same as in rest o life

Hybrid vigor ? as well from the outcross.

must admit seen few 3/4 grey 1/4 collies that’s wouldn’t minded owning .

I really liked the grey I had but his feet let him down and he was too driven. I'm looking at getting a stag/grey soon for things the whippets just aren't big enough for. I don't know if it's lack of brains or overpowering drive that makes greys look stupid at times, either way it makes it dangerous for them hunting.

Can you still get the tall smooth coated Roo dogs over there or have they all died out now ?

The bloke I got my bulldog off years ago used to have those, then he had working deerhounds. I'm sure they would be still around, probably in SA. I'm going for a rough coated stag cross grey, they come up occasionally and because they're working dogs you can still get one for 2 to 4 hundred oz dollars. Not many city people want one and only a few pig doggers have them. Not many running dog people here in NSW.

      **sorry for the double post**
I know I'm probably going to get the piss severely ripped out of me for asking this, but
Has anyone ever successfully trained a deaf lurcher (from two working parents and I own her 4 year old sister who is an awesome little bunny basher.)
Genetically she has potential, but...what do you experts think?
She's not a Double merle by the way, it's extreme piebald/white head. Her vision is perfect

      Evening all,
I'm lucky enough to have first pick from a friends litter. He’s crossed his Saluki dog with his Collie Bull GH bitch. I’ve only seen videos of the litter as he’s based in UK. Few different characters in the litter, some sit reluctant off in the back ground others play among themselves two are incredibly forward one more than the other.

What key things do you look for when picking a litter? I’ve mostly ran mine on rabbits, reds and some others.

      Go stead,
      oshea

Anyone ever worked a deaf lurcher by any chance?..reason behind the question is I’ve bred a retired dog to a Merle bitch an I took my pup from it the biggest of the lot black and white with two ice blue eyes but I’ve noticed he can’t hear anything bangs or anything like that there’s only a odd reaction to some stuff but his eyesight is 100% very good eyes. I’m just curious because it’s all I have from this old dog and I was thinking could I use the pup lamping and out with terriers any info be [BANNED TEXT]. The father was not Merle only mother...
