The old first x deer/grey bitch I have was out of Westmead Hawks sister. Very fast in her day for a 29", 75lb bitch. Cheers.

get a good whippet over her....

Bones are like glass and no stamina iv a bitch here was a terrible state when I got her she was that skinny you could see the shape of her skull, when I phoned about her fella told me she was a small

Got a Son of Westmeath Hawks here still but he’s just turned 12

Anyone wanting the last throw of the dice of direct Westmeath Hawk blood is welcome to use him for free.

He held the track record over Notts 905m but in all honesty needed 1200m plus to see the best of him .

His Dam line was Premier Fantasy x Clover Nell .

For a lamper all rounder day and night I recon be perfect mate I’d be jumping at chance if I was lads on here 1200 meter stayer got to be perfect for flicking that lamp and been on done quick been nice to see good whippet bitch always a few capable half whippet greys about growing up me or tried bulldog I’d use Sal bitch have something for everything then ?

As far as greyhound racing is concerned its all about who's got the best drugs. Very little honest men left in the game and what chance do they have running against dogs pumped full of gear.

Nightmare isn’t it but money involved bound to happen recon lads at it with some runners and lads with game dogs I’d rather not bother if needed to f**k about like that ??

I don't doubt that the fluffy dogs are the best at what they've been bred for and can be very useful for other stuff as well but I've never known anyone have one as an out an out fox dog, I've been running foxes with lurchers for 30 years and have met plenty of lads doing the same and I've never heard of anyone using a heavily blooded saluki xs for the job, maybe we've been missing a trick but I seriously doubt it. Lol.

My old man had 1, not fluffy eared but halfx in the  80s. Took all game with him but was a fox dog mainly

Its fcukin rife in the greyhound game, I know that for a fact and the higher up the grades you go the better the gear gets.

Id of had that thing sickened in a fortnight when I was in my twenties. Lol

Tried most of the popular xs back then and none could handle the work they were getting like the bull and wheaten xs could, completely different mindset needed if they're seeing teeth on a really regular basis. The only other cross that came close was a little beddy xs a mate had, if she had a been 3 inches bigger and 20 lbs heavier she'd of been a real diamond but unfortunately when put to a real good wheaten xs she produced nothing like herself.

It was run along side some of the first bullxs and held its own mate. Wasn't a hard dog but took teeth, hare and all size deer from what my dad said.

No doubt there is the odd one about that will take fox regularly but when they're out 3 nights on the lamp a Saturday with terriers and a Sunday doing covers with hounds they have to have a strong desire for the job because if there's any holes in their game it will be found out in no time.

Anyway that's all in the past for me now and I've no need for a hard rough dog like I did back then so maybe one of those fluffy ones would do me just fine.

Apart from the hounds he'd have been doing that. Put it this way he didn't lose his kennel space for the bullxs. My dad said he was definitely an exception

and thats what i was saying back a bit, their really not for thrashing a dozen foxes a week or piling deer ceiling high, they make a good sporting dog,do a bit of everything for you ,but stick em on foxes 3/4 times a week i think youd see the end of them after time .slip them on a hare and it will be a hell of a run...for a while ...if your not that hyped and you wont start thrashing the ground or the hedge if one escapes their bloody good fun...My mate that kept the deerhound x and pures is a big greyhound man,hes into coursing since he was a child..he has a bitch, and she has killed and will kill all the foxes you put in front of her,,she is a mad fecking thing...and i mean mad ...she has a litter under her now ,and the pups are 4k a pup for dogs,3 for bitches.top coursing bred pups...all bar 2 are gone and no advertising whatsoever..ive sounded him out on knocking a litter from her out of either a collie or saluki stud....aint happening lol,,,but i planted a seed ,so wait in hope lol

A strong dog like him half bred what i would use if I was a lamper odd daytime run I had half cross there isn’t a better deer dog I don’t think and I wasn’t hammering fox at time but accounted for plenty ??

      **sorry for the double post**
I know I'm probably going to get the piss severely ripped out of me for asking this, but
Has anyone ever successfully trained a deaf lurcher (from two working parents and I own her 4 year old sister who is an awesome little bunny basher.)
Genetically she has potential, but...what do you experts think?
She's not a Double merle by the way, it's extreme piebald/white head. Her vision is perfect

      Evening all,
I'm lucky enough to have first pick from a friends litter. He’s crossed his Saluki dog with his Collie Bull GH bitch. I’ve only seen videos of the litter as he’s based in UK. Few different characters in the litter, some sit reluctant off in the back ground others play among themselves two are incredibly forward one more than the other.

What key things do you look for when picking a litter? I’ve mostly ran mine on rabbits, reds and some others.

      Go stead,
      oshea
