Be better off with the scout... Full time 4wd,More room and you won't look like postman Pat or a pissy pensioner?

If you pulled up in one of those to take me dogging I'd pull the curtains closed.  ?

Please do....

I’ve never fancied private plates,to me it’s a waste of money for what they charge, then the price to change them when ya swap motors.

No I mean the same age car and colour would have the same number plates on.

So insure 1 car and both cars would be covered ?

So you decided on another yeti.

I know Skoda are now a different motor to what they were.

But to people of a certain vintage, the mere mention of "Skoda" has them howling with laughter and dreadging up old jokes about skips !

Cheers.

The ones that you are talking about were tiny, cramped rear engine jobbies with instruments that looked like they had been nicked from a kid's toy. Yet, they had a good following. When the first VW Skoda came out one Skoda owner moaned that you wouldn't be able to change the engine on a wet campsite on the dark like you could on the old model. The salesman said: "You won't have to. That is the point!"

But, when you look back at what Skoda produced before the Russians got their hands on the factory they made some lovely looking cars. And guns too.

The Russian designers were hopeless. Zasatava from Yugoslavia, Polonoski or whatever from Poland, a rip-off of a Talbot Alpine that was bad enough before the Russkies ruined it even more. The Lada Niva and Riva built on a defunct Fiat chassis. And, the King of them all, the Moskvitch that had an engine designed by a German BMW engineer who they captured during the war. Trouble was, the rest of the car was designed by Russians. They used to have big posters showing the car with its corrugated body work and the slogan: "Built to last a Russian winter" and someone always wrote underneath; "And not a day more."

Lol I see what ya mean now,yeh mate I thought stuff it I will get the 4wd one as this is cheaper than a van from what I can find and it’s the cheapest yeti in the country with less miles on than most.I rang about a VW caddy the other day which was only £4,000 the phone was ringing then got rejected. When I look at his profile thing on eBay he had no feedback or nothing,so no wonder he never answered.

I know a fella local to me who buys damaged Skoda's and sells them on for a living.

He only takes on cars with light damage, nothing structural.

My old man got a 2 year old Yeti with less than 20k for about 6 or 7 grand.

He's spot on, my dad being a tight arse has been getting his cars off him for nearly 20 years now.

The man does it for a living now, buys them off auction and does them up mint.

It's just about him dropping on one when you're after one but he often has Yeti's in his yard.

I remember back in the early 80's in Saudi Arabia they were selling Lada Nivas 4x4 brand new for the equivalent of about £1,000

I wanted a cheap, robust 4x4 for going in the dessert with the Salukis so thought about buying one.

When I mentioned it to my pals they recoiled in horror, you would think I'd just told them I had a virulent, highly contagious dose of pox !

They made it clear I wouldn't be going out with them, no one wanted to be asked to tow it home !

I bought a second hand Range Rover instead........

Cheers.
