Crown FX Impact

Recommended Posts

Heard a lot about these air rifles and met a fella recently who owns one and he seems an alright chap so called him last night to see if he wanted a morning on the pigeons and squirrels this morning...

Well fxck me what a disappointment if I'm honest... Don't get me wrong it looked the part for sure his is. 22  loads of bells and whistles I actually like the thumb hole stock and stuff but the rest I didn't like one bit... Surprised how heavy and cumbersome it was to shoulder.. Noisy and definitely do NOT  like the bottle set up on the gun either... While I was trying his Crown I had given him my Air Arms S510 ultimate sporter, traditional stock in forest Green with silencer..

It was - 3 degrees here this morning at 9 am and the snow was flurrying in hard by that time... I managed  2 woodies and 1 squirrel.. Not a great result for 3 hours in bone chilling conditions... He managed 1 woodie and 2 squirrels... But he also preferred the Air Arms to the crown... The S510 is  far lighter, way better balanced and silky smooth... But about £400 cheaper... Is it just me or am I missing something... I heard great things about these rifles so much so I was actually thinking about purchasing one... Thank god I got to try one out today... I don't think I'd be to bothered if I never seen another one again lol..

A bit strange as the Crown in standard black synthetic stock is 2.8kg whereas the AA 510 Ultimate Sporter in laminate is 3.4kg, not sure about your green stock though. I have only played around in the rfd's range but the crown to me is very light in my hands and a joy to use. Not quite sure where the noise level issue comes from because in sub 12 the Crown is mouse fart quiet BUT anyway if its not your thing, then is isn't.  I must admit that as an FX fan, I would not want a sub 12 Crown but in fac .22 oh yes, it would be very nice with my Impact fac .25 although I am not a majot fan of longer guns and having had two Wildcats, a new Mk3 fac would be my choice.

His wasn't scenthetic stock his was wooden I'm sure... Quite bulky also, exact same as pic... Sorry his is fac 30lb.. We don't mess about with seed spitters so I wouldn't know about 12lb ones.... For starters the buddy bottle that makes it Way heavier if you took that off it May weigh lighter but you couldn't shoot with it... So have you had the ultimate sportier in your actual hands walked about and shouldered it or have you just googled it?

I thought the crown was light when I handled one. Felt nice and well balanced to me, but I’m only 3’ 4” and 25 stone so it might be that? ?

It might be that indeed.. See I'm 3 foot 8 and have a head you could land a helicopter on so maybe I'm just top heavy.. And plus the low winds it's obviously my mistake.

Nothing wrong with the crown , it’s my main FAC gun ,  running @ 42 ftlbs , The bottle is not heavy , its carbon fibre, crown weighs in lighter than the ultimate by .3 kg both in laminate,  & .4 kg in walnut ,crown is better balanced in the shoulder , more shot count , easily tuned to pellet or slug (unlike s510)

wouldn’t have any other .22 FAC apart from the new FXmk3 wildcat

And yes used I have used s510 , but the crown beats it hands down and that’s why I have one ?

Sorry to say I bought one and I am pleased that the rfd is a mate because when it arrived I thought it was bloody awful, in fact all the things you think about the Crown, I thought about the Ultimate Sporter, to say I was hacked off is an understatement as I was so looking forward to getting this gun but it came home with me for one night and went back the next day, the laminate version which I had felt like a lump of concrete, so pleased he is my mate and someone else bought it and was no doubt delighted but that is the whole point, one mans pleasure is another mans poison.

Loved my fx crown in synthetic black stock in 22

Longest shot was 97 yrds on a rabbit it just rolled over dead

Next was a woody at 70 yrds did not even open it's wings just fell to the ground

And it was sub12

I had a s510 ultimate sporter

Put away and changed it for the crown pleased I did

I thought it was a light rifle

And I'm a heavy rifle man so was surprised when the crown fit me

So good iv had loads of rifles

To many to list

I sold the crown

A big mistake

Would I have another

Yes and will have another at some point

Just go, s to show

That not every rifle will fit every one

What's good for one may not be for another

Not shot a fac one but may be one day when I get down to mitchs one day lol?

Don’t know what you are talking about , the bottle is light , probably far  lighter than the cylinder on s510 ultimate

Lol.. OK so are you telling me that a buddy bottle filled with air attached to the front of the rifle is lighter than the Air Arms s510 set up?

I also googled the weight of both rifles on fac... Yous all seem to be stats men... Well I'm more like pac man..and the Air Arms was lighter and even the owner admitted this

I seem to have ruffled a few feathers... As I said maybe it's just me.. Lol rabbit at 97 yards at 12 sub drop dead crown got me.. I'll bow out..
