Just a question on imping gos tails. Obviously its best to use the feathers from the same bird but if these aren't available would feathers feathers from say a wood pigeon be adequate? Cheers

You would be better off using Harris tail feathers they are a similar size and very flexible, they rarely break!

Yes they would defo be a good option but for me hard to come by as not many people with harrisses in my area so looking for other options which would work pretty good. Just wondering what other people have used which has worked for them. Cheers

Once imped a carrion crow,s tail to a male buzzard ,worked well,looked strange

I no a lad in durum who mite have some tail feathers if you could pic them up , I’d have message him see if he has any old ones knocking about

Appreciate the offer bud but to be fair I don't think il be flying much more this year and don't want to stress the bird as hel be down for moult soon anyway. Just curious as to what works best. Thanks

They are the most easily obtained hawk feathers, you can usually buy them or someone would post a set to you. Definitely the most suitable, I heard of someone that used to fit a Harris tail to his gos at the beginning of the season and always had a full set at the end of it.
