mark williams 7,558
Had a three hour static session this afternoon lads looking for grey squirrels. Full leaf suit on, in amongst the hedgerow, bucket seat and primos sticks, nothing spooked so I,m hidden well. I`m tight in the hedgerows and wood pigeons started to land in the trees and also the rape seed crops, just came from nowhere. Forgive the hasty photo lads, just no time to focus, they were off, very wily and alert as always. Here's the area of the rapeseed crop, clearly gorged on. Taking the photos saw the pigeons off for a good hour when suddenly a good dozen landed bang on 38 yds in front of me in a medium sized oak tree, two stayed in the tree the rest glided down into the crops. I was lucky in that my 97 was cocked ready and already cradled in the primos - I so, so gently slipped the safety off, built my shot, squeezed off that beautiful two stage trigger between heart beats and my shot proved a perfect headshot, the pigeon simply crumpled and fell. That was the last I saw of any wood pigeons. I carried on the wait lads and a nice sized grey squirrel showed up, sat perfectly still trying to work out where I was because it could sense me but could`nt see me. I put the L4 reticle on the area between the eye and ear, built the shot again, the squirrel crumpled , instant despatch. For really testing shots, I`m finding the German L4 reticle sublime. atb. FOXHUNTER 5,021
Got more patience than me , couldn't be bothered to sit for 3 hours for only a woody and a squirrel, saying that I could wait 3 hours for a fox or deer 1 Quote Link to post
