In 2013, The Ring's website reported: "Not only did Dempsey’s first hook break Willard’s jaw, the ensuing attack ... also reportedly produced multiple facial fractures, several broken ribs and hearing loss in one ear."

yeh read that last night, really enjoyed it, its hard to believe Dempsey  only weighted 190lb  unless ive got that wrong, if it right he wasnt even a cruiser  13st 7lb , he must have had some power in his hands/ body to dish that injury's  out, maybe  Gnash  or mick  knows bit more about him .? .

A man of that weight can still hit hard enough to cause that kind of damage.

Dempsey was ferocious, that kind of intensity had never been seen before.

Most heavyweights of that era were only about 13 stone. Some, that fought middleweight, light heavy and heavy, would average about 170lb and just go up and down the weights, depending on who they were fighting.

Things were far less strict then, than what they are now.

The likes of Dempsey and that weren't really small, Jess Willard was a big and strong farming man.

He would be huge in today's world with all those vitamins and minerals.

Just look at Jim Jeffries, a proper unit of a man.

true  that  above, my grandfather  was boxing champion in the army, was  prob be called a  light heavyweight to day  12st  10lb , same  weight as me today. he had many scraps with blokes 2-3 st heavier than him  , outside the ring, he put couple blokes in hospital , 1 poor bloke died  this was just after 2nd ww  , he was only   5ft 8in  but nearly that far across, built like a fookin tank, i seen him just before he died , he had parkin's disease , but they thought he was punch drunk in them days, yeh some men can pack real power no matter how big there are  deff .

Yeah, just a sign of the times.

My point is likely true though, Dempsey would be a bigger fighter if he were around today.

His frame could clearly carry much more weight, he would hold much more muscle mass.
