My old man used to do the same just so my brother would eat it, he never knew and would often ask for chicken pie but would never eat rabbit if he could see what it was

I only like them cooked on an open fire, mid day winter ferreting snack😁...sprinkle of Cajun spice,banging.... always cook the livers and kidneys first on a skewer 😉👍DSC00960.JPG.5926a1b62d60eb8239093307f769f153.JPG1699990315_BlackheartsDogs016.jpg.a60279d8c60c616df4d87a4b11b7af48.jpg

Rabbit Pie ! And, for the purists, made with shortcrust pastry, NOT puff pastry ! ? ! Cheers.

Treat off my dad tonight, he's a friend on the fresh fish stall up town... Scallops and lemon sole fillets...

Family get together at ours, so a bit of a spread.. 13 hour cooked brisket, slow cooked pork shoulder.. Home made coleslaw, stuffing, roasties... and a 2 day hangover! Lol

i feel the same....the only time i will eat rabbit is when they are just out of the burrow...and we call "friers"....skinned and gutted and rolled in flour and herbs and gently fried in an oil/ butter mix .....they taste completly different from an adult rabbit.....

I miss the summer mornings in Blighty… wake up before the sun, piss the dogs, go back grab the rifle and the staffy and go grab a few bunnies for breakfast off the golfie (yes I had permission before anyone asks lol). Clean them, stick the hearts, livers and kidneys frying in oil, garlic, large cut onion and chilies. flour and bread the meat. Take out the offal, throw the meat in and plate up when ready with toast and a couple of fried eggs.

I once made a patè with bunny liver, it was nice but lacked depth of flavour.

Older rabbits stink like shit but if you soak them in salt water for 24, then in cider for another day or two…. Sweet meat baby

Funnily enough most of the villages here that do the boar hunts will do the same with the boar meat.

Made a pork stew last night and ended up eating salad  Far too hot for stews etc, so I whacked it in the freezer for next month lol

I agree mate, but a pal called by with a load of freshly shot and butchered roe so I froze most of it and slow cooked some of it with vegetables fresh from the allotment. Food as fresh as that is unbeatable for flavour.

Cheers.
