Rabbit Pie ! And, for the purists, made with shortcrust pastry, NOT puff pastry ! ? ! Cheers.

Family get together at ours, so a bit of a spread.. 13 hour cooked brisket, slow cooked pork shoulder.. Home made coleslaw, stuffing, roasties... and a 2 day hangover! Lol

Treat off my dad tonight, he's a friend on the fresh fish stall up town... Scallops and lemon sole fillets...

Know what. It is a pleasure to make proper food and have it acknowleged by friends in an environment which sadly we appear to be losing. The other week I had a go at Cornish pasties and on a regular basis I make a variety of pies using my own pastry. The lads and lasses really enjoy which is heartwarming. Just had a text from my friend who managed a fallow, roe and fox on Wednesday. Don’t think Reynard would go down too well but as for the other two, I have plans. I have started using Skirt beef for quite a few dishes which to be honest has opened my eyes. Quite expensive but hey ho. Last week I cooked an oxtail casserole which in my humble opinion was superb. Again no pics but maybe you are getting my enthusiasm. Jok.

Taco night tonight. 1.7kg of oven roasted ham, now boiling down in its own juices to get that pulled consistency. Gonna separate into two lots one spicy BBQ and the other with Mexican herbs and spices served with rice and pico de gallo. The mrs is at home now making stacks of corn tortillas and I’m having a beer in the local

Photos later.

Next time you go in there mack , can you have a word with them about that pie please .  Tell them if a pie doesn't have a base , then it's not a pie ,  it's just a stew with a lid on 👍.
